Default my car backfires...ALOT!

it seems that my car is backfiring an awful lot now. i can make it backfire between just about every gear during shifting. it usually happens if im granny shifting after about a 1/2 throttle push and if i let the rpms go enough, right before i put it in gear if backfires. it doesnt do it during aggressive driving. alot of people tell me my car shoots flames with it does it too.

i had my JIC single exhausts resonator cutout because it was too restrictive so now its just a straight 3" exhaust. i dont know if thats causing me to notice it more or what.

anybody have a clue why, i know its supposed to be because it might be getting lean between shifts, and any unignited fuel is being ignited in the exhaust, but is it something i should worry about? also does it damage the turbo?

If you have 3inch straight pipes and no cats it's normal...the richer you are the more it happens...You should of seen last night when I was burning out at the track...Fireworks show... But mine only does it when I hit the rev limiter..

you get a quick lean condition (super hot) when you lift to shift. if your a/f's are in the 10's, you are just exploding the unburnt fumes still in the exhaust. plugs getting fouled or excessive carbon on them can make this situation get worse as you discribed.

How does your JIC sound with the resonator removed? I want to also remove mine. Was it really a restriction in the exhaust? Thanks.

Brett, did you have the resonator cut out at ZDayZ? The 2 best sounding cars, exhaust wise, at ZDayZ this past weekend were Sharif's and Bretts! It is extremely deep and kind of loud and not an obnoxious loud!

haha, thanks zach, yeah it was cut out for zdayz. BTW i like your new avatar!

i was afraid it was gonna be too loud with the resonator cut out but its not really. the turbo quitens it down a bit, i bet if i was still na, it would be MUCH louder. it doesnt have that drone in the cab like some exhausts do. i was surprised. the resonator was very restrictive, the exhaust is 3", but the resonator tapers down to about and inch so i had it cut out and had a piece of 3" welded in its place.
