Default Turbonetics Installed Now ...

I own a 04 g35 cpe 6mt and just had a turbonetics st kit installed along with a jwt clutch flywheel and kinetix 5 plenum . The kit I must say is a nice kit to install but there are a couple of things that turbonetics forgot to put in there manual . I will have a little right up on it after the holiday . My problem is that the car sits at 650 rpms at idle and sometimes when I let off the throttle it drops so low that it stalls . I also have a problem once in a while with the throttle not working . How and can I fix these problems .

The R's coming down when you come off the throttle can be because of your lightened flywheel. That said, if you are having other issues with your throttle, it is hard to say that is the reason. What do you mean by your thottle doesn't work once in a while?

if you are runnig the reflash, I would suggest a custom tune with something like a unichip or utec. It should take care of at least the revs coming down and stalling the car

the reflash sets idle at 1000rpm.....or at least it should. I'm not sure why yours would be at 650.....throttle not working...that really might have to do with your plenum install.

FWIW I know the re-flash is suppose to set the rpm at 1000 but after my car is warmed up it sits at about 850-900. Never had a stall or throttle problem.

Zivman is wrong. Listen to these other guys.

First, make sure that you don't have any vaccuum leaks. Does the car idle rough when it is idling? Double check around your plenum, and the lines going to the bov and your gauges. Listen for any unusual sounds under the engine bay, and if need be, spray some soapy water on the seals around the plenum and look for bubbles.

If all else fails, it might be an issue with the reflash. This is doubtful, but you might want to try this route after you've exhausted all others. Keep in mind that it's a MUCH bigger chance that its something that was overlooked in the install.

Another thing, you didn't push on the butterfly valve in the throttle body did you? Have you checked the wiring going to your throttle body?

You showed him. My vote goes to vacuum leak. Plug the exhaust and pressurize the intake. I bet you'll find a leak.

Yeah with that Kinetix plenum, hopefully if he disconnected the throttle body, then he would have had to do those procedures for the throttle body...

2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.


* ECU Accelerator Pedal Reset Procedure
Note: Timing is critical for this to work!
1. Turn the ignition switch to on. Dash gauges lit. Don’t start the engine!
2. Wait 3 seconds.
3. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 5 times within 5 seconds.
4. Wait 7 to 10 seconds.
5. Fully depress the accelerator pedal for approximately 10 seconds. At this point the check engine light starts to blink quickly indicating Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results) has started.
6. Release accelerator pedal and wait 5 to 10 seconds.
7. Fully depress the accelerator pedal for 10 seconds. At this point the check engine light should change to blinking slowly indicating “Erasing ECU Memory”.
8. Release the accelerator pedal and turn the ignition switch to off.
9. Restart the engine. The check engine light should be out.

Note: If the check engine light doesn't blink as described in steps 5 & & 7, then the ECU isn't reset.

* If above didn't work, you'll need to disconnect the battery negative for 24 hours. (I pump the accelerator and brake to "bleed down" the ECU memory for good measure.) This method is almost foolproof as long as all ECU control parameters are within their normal ranges.
