Default need help!! is going FI the right thing?? need opinion

everyone with FI please let me know your opinion i need it.

well heres my story im from ohio and about to reside in boca raton, FL with my girlfriend. i am a college student and i will not be making much money anymore. anyways enough to be able to afford to dump any more money in to my 350z because of living cost and going to school full time.

currently i have a 350z being built with and almost complete

greddy TT set up, machined block, wiseco 9:5:1 compression piston, Eagle Rods, ARP Main and head Studs, and cometic head gasket and nissan gasket kit, jwt clutch, emanage blue with injector and ignition harness, MD iso thermal plenum spacer, hks blowoff valve.

i was reading up a lot in this forum and it seems there is alot of up keep and alot of problems with FI kits in general oil lines ect ect. i just wanted to run 5.5 pounds of boost not looking to whoop anyones ***, i just want to keep up and have fun. and i want to daily drive this car lets say 5 days out of the week, all day, running errands, going to work and school ect... I NEED YOUR OPINION IS THIS POSSIBLE???? or should i just get it all together and sell the car and get a m3 please i need all of your advices on this i spent so much on this car and dont want to blow it up and worry. please let me know your opinion. and are there any good tuning shops around fort lauderdale, west palm beach area? thanks

First off congrats on going to Florida! Awesome place. I miss it!!!!

I have a Greddy TT also and when i first got it I also said 5.5 lbs of Boost is going to be enough and that way I dont spend more $$$ but I was to weak and once I started boosting I started to say " ahhh.....a little more and a little more ...." So beware of the "rasing boost" bug.

If you are in school just tune it right with like 7-9 lbs of boost and as long as you have the PROPER tunning 7-9 lbs of boost should give you no problem and you wont be asking for more which may lead to more expenses which you dont want since you are in school.

I would however put aside $2K for any repairs or unwanted issues which may arise.

I for example had a bad injector and it started to cost a bit since I decided at the time to go ahead and do a little bit more.

Just keep a small stach for "just in case" situations.

Good luck man!

Like jmcmorante said, just be sensible about where to limit yourself. With a turbo setup, there's always head room. Which in most cases, leads to enormous expenses when "you just can't get enough..." LOL.

azn, I drive my built TT every single day, and run errands and grab Starbucks all the time. With yout built setup, and 5.5psi of boost, you will have no problems whatsoever...that will be a walk in the park, provided everything is tuned and installed correctly.

Best of luck with school, and if need any help..lemme know. (with your car...not with school)

you should be perfectly fine at the 5.5psi setting. but as others have stated, the power becomes so addicting, especially when all you have to do is turn the little **** that says "more boost!!" hahaha.

Hey man.. welcome to So Flo... With the listing you have your engine is going to be fine. At least boost-stress wise. As for oil lines etc that all depends on the place doing the install right now. If you want a good group of guys to do your work down here, JapTrix has never steered me wrong and always makes time for me to annoy them. I've had several issues with my APS ST that I had done elsewhere and they have been my go to guys to get things fixed. Westpak (Gus) is the guy you want to message on here. He's a damn nice guy and has a GReddy TT as well. Have them do your tune..

Don't sell the car, you'll never get your money out of it.. plus you don't want to be another guy with an M3 down here.. keep the modded Z It's YOUR car. Not a cookie cutter one.

I had the infamous APS ST check valve problem which ended up fouling my turbo. I've had a few problems with the system but all of it was just from lack of experience (This is my first FI car) and patch work since the initial job wasn't 100% perfect. That is why I am a big fan of JapTrix now and recommended them for you because since I've put the car in their hands things have been improving greatly. When you get down here I'd love to take a ride, see what the GReddy TT's are like.

One thing I would get would be a J&S safeguard this can save your many time its a knock amp if im not wrong but you just cant see knock but it pulls away timing when your car is acting retarded or you have bad gas all sorts of little things that can go wrong. I have it and so far it’s been great.

It is a big risk but when you finish and everything runs good you feel like a champion. But looking back I would rather took the money for buying the Z and mods and chit and bought the new z06..... yes for most people it is way to much time and maintanence
