Question FI Plans and Advice

Some of you may remember a thread I started a while ago and this is just a bit of follow up....https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/188983-15k-to-spend.html Here's the deal....I have gone all over the place researching and getting info and quotes in order to begin my FI process. I went to GT Motorsports to get a ride in a few cars and get some quotes and here is what Sam came up with for me. I also spoke with Scott and Mike at VRT but I just chose not list here until I visit thier shop..now keep in mind I want to stay at or under 15K and get as close to 500rwhp as possible. I got quotes on APS TT and TN ST..First the APS TT

APS TT-$6326.81
Platinum spark plugs-$169.32
Shipping-$200
AAM Fuel Return System-$997.50
WALBRO Fuel Pump-$133.19
SARD 800CC INJ- $1239.70
HKS F-Con V Pro EMS-$1439.36
Pressure Senson-$232.16
Harness-$510.74
Dyno- $500
Install and Tune- $2728.00
ENTIRE PACKAGE COMPLETE------$15,733.82
There are other miscelaneous parts however I just listed the Major ones.

Next is the Turbonetics ST
Everything was the exact same as far as parts ie. EMS/Fuel Pump/AAM FRS HKS F Con? 800CC ect......the only difference is the TN kit was $5395.00, and withought shipping. So therfore the grand total was $15,020

So give me some opinions, what can I expect to get out of this deal as far as HP? All things considered are there any other parts I need (except for Clutch flywheel, brakes, suspension mods, exhaust, and gauges)

That sounds like WAY too much unless you have a built motor. My suggestion would be to go with the basic APS TT/APS exhaust/gauges/clutch/flywheel and leave it at that unless you plan on building the motor and going for crazy power...

IMO, it sounds like you're looking at it backwards. You need to decide upon a power goal, and build accordingly. What is your goal?

Platinum spark plugs-$169.32 Go with some 1-step Iridiums, not Platinums

Anything in this section isn't required if you get the base APS TT system
AAM Fuel Return System-$997.50
WALBRO Fuel Pump-$133.19
SARD 800CC INJ- $1239.70
HKS F-Con V Pro EMS-$1439.36

My first question, is do you already have an exhaust and a clutch/flywheel setup. Your drivetrain needs to be stout enough to handle all that power, and your exhaust needs to be able to flow the large amounts of air required for any major power.

The above setup can take you to 600+whp (the weak point being the single fuel pump). The only limits are how much you want to put into a built motor, and how much you're willing to spend on a clutch setup...

my power goal is 500 or as close as possible...I dont have an exhaust to support these mods currently however I'm going to purchase one simultaneously during the FI install...same for clutch and flywheel....basically I have 5K to put towards the miscelanous gauges, exhaust, clutch and flywheel...oh and breaks too.

You can get close to 500whp on the stock motor, but it would probably be in your best interest to go ahead and build the motor for safety concerns. Here's how I would go about it, if I were buying the APS TT.

APS TT base kit
APS 2.5" or 3" true dual exhaust
APS test pipes (size depending on your exhaust choice)
650cc injectors
JWT clutch/flywheel
Gauges (boost, wideband, etc)

Built short block:
Arias Extreme Duty Pistons - 9.0:1
Eagle Rods
ARP hardware (L19)
rod/main bearings
Cometic headgasket
JWT or Tomei cams
JWT valve springs

Dyno Tuning
Labor

It would take some time to add up the cost of all that, but it would be the most efficient manner to hit the 500whp mark *on the APS TT*. That setup would only be limited by the unichip, APS fuel system, and JWT clutch (which will all take you to roughly 550whp, from what I understand). Depending on your taste in exhausts, you might choose to go with the 3" exhaust system.

I'm not sure what point the actuators on the aps tt become a problem. An APS owner might want to chime in on that.

There are other options if you decided to go the ST or Greddy TT route, but you'd have to figure in other seperate factors. With the greddy TT, you will obviously be buying a new EMS/fuel system so you won't limit yourself in that respect (and also might save money in the long run). With a ST, you will most likely need to up to a T66 turbo or very aggressive cams, and also EMS/fuel system to get there.
