Question $15k to spend

So here's the story......I was wounded in Iraq and the Army is paying out settlements of up to $100,000 tax free as an award for being out of commission for the duration of your injury. I was out of commission for 60+ days thus awarding me $50,000. I have decided to put away $15K for my car and I was wondering what is the best route to spending this amount of money..here are my goals
1. Go FI route and only turbo no SC
2. Maintane daily driveability
3. Get as close to 500 RWHP as possible

So the question is whats the best route to take??? thanks for the input fellas

Man, props to you for being over there and sad to hear you were injured. Good think you are still alive, and even better that you can still drive a car . I second WA2GOOD on the JWT TT built motor thing. I couldn't be happier with my setup...www.SinCity35Z.com. Also check out the SVRTechnologies 3" exhaust. JWT TT, built motor, and SVRTech 3" exhaust = 554whp 690wtq on my car!

First off, thanks for serving for us man. This country owes you more than the $50K.

As far as the car goes, I say TT all the way.

For all of us, thank you for your service and your sacrifice. I am sorry that you were wounded, glad that you are alive. My dad was killed in Korea, five weeks before I was born. Mom remarried another fighter pilot years later and I grew up in the service. Learned what it was like to have conversations at the dinner table when somebody we knew paid the ultimate price for us. We all owe you a great deal, and all our other men and women in uniform. Thank you.

give Tim Richards a call at Speed Force Racing. It looks like you are pretty close to them and IMO, you will be the most bang for your buck and the best and most reliable tuning.

Most importantly, research it and take your time figuring out which parts will deliver your goals. 15K will get you a sick setup my friend!

Give Tim a call he is the "go to man" for the VQ

Glad you made it home

15k from my experience is not enough to get a build motor plus turbo.

I suggest the APS TT which is very reliable.
Since your goal is 500whp you should be still fine with a stock block, several people are including myself.

the abs kit is about $7300, install is about $3000. Clutch, Exhaust and so forth is another $2500.

If you want to do the build motor right I have calculated I will need about 15k just for that....$10K for the long block and $5k for the other upgrades

hope this helps

Probably two to three weeks.
If the builder has a built block to exchange, that will save time.

You really need to think about what else you want to do to your car. The problem with just a TT and built motor job, as someone else has intimated, is that will barely be enough, if even enough, to do a first glass TT job. Now, assuming you have that power, you have other issues. Suspension and handling, clutch and flywheel to handle the power, and brakes. If you want a fully balanced car with total performance, you are talking much closer to $25-30k on this platform.

One of the other fellas up above said do your research. Amen to that! Do not rush into anything. The adage in the service is never send a soldier where you can send a bullet, and if you can send a bullet, the bigger the bullet the better. Well, with a car mod, never send a dollar where you can send your brain first, and the more brain the better. You don't spend troops for ground that has no strategic value, and you don't spend dollars for stuff you do not need. Take your time....the parts will all be there when you finally decide what you need and want. The money, once spent.....is gone forever.

If wanting just to go JUST 500 hp and under 15k, why not go the ST route with short block... that should theoretically keep you under your budget and also be around 500-550rwhp......
