Gear ratios are just one aspect of the total package when it comes to overall performace. They are a reflection of both the tune of the car and the preference of the driver. From personal experience and with traction issues addressed, shorter ratios (a.k.a. stock Z tranny ratios in this case) will be faster than long gears.

My plans with the Z involve keeping the stock ratios and reinforcing the internals to take higher revs. then its just time to practice, practice, practice once i start driving with the kind of hp and tq FI provides.
