Not being a d!ck at all but ever heard of a mandrel bender? That cut and weld stuff looks OK with titanium but for SS mandrel bent and polished piping is much nicer. All that being said is anyone else looking at the turbo sepcs? A .81 A/R. I don't know what APS runs but thats a bit large. You may not have the spool up time you want with a .81 A/R and a full T4 turbine. The 60-1 in the Turbonetics kit uses a .77 A/R on an oversized T3 turbine housing and wheel and the spool up is perfect IMHO.

I thought .82AR would be perfect for the 3.5L engine, on the 2.4L I had fullboost at 4500rpm, I was assuming that on the 3.5 it would be at 3500rpm maybe less... Can someone give me some feedback on spool times in this engine on diferent ARs?

Like I said I don't know what APS uses. It would also depend a bit on what turbine wheel you are using. Then again does Garrett even offer a T3 turbine wheel on their GT35 compressors? I have a Stage V turbine wheel on my 60-1 and with a .77 A/R I get full boost between 3200-3500

The strength of a weld can not be judged by appearance. Unless you have X-ray vision. Some welds look pretty, some welds look like *** but they hold better than a pretty weld.

Those welds look fine. Good luck with the project, I would love to take on something like this but nobody has the VQ figured out.

I never said the welds werent strong. I said I would prefer to see mandrel bent piping.

well the 'use a million different weld-els' construction isn't the best, all those welds leave a ton of places for failure. Good materials make for a better unit. Using 50 different pieces per runner=not the best idea.

besides, I don't know why you seem so hell bent on making aftermarket manifolds....the stock headers are just fine, and you're doing a single kit anyways.

Couple of things to think about especially if your are financing the Z.. unless you plan on either keeping the car for a VERY long time or ripping the turbo kit out should you decide to sell it, it is hard enough to sell a Z with an aftermarket turbo kit.. you will probably knock the resale value down on the Z by doing a custom kit like this.

I would hardly call spool up at 4000 perfect. Im glad im getting a second shot at this because twin turbo design is much better for this car. After my build it became even worse.

Because you have my old turbo. I had a voodoo woman dance around it for 2 hours while praying to the spool up gods.

i am using the GT35R turbo on my set up and i hit full boost at 2800rpm. i'm using a kit from a new company called Eternal Motorsports out of Conn. i'm one of the test cars and i have had no problems. i boost at 8.5 to 9 psi. and make 383hp and 416tq with a stock muffler. but i have a 3" downpipe leading to the stock muffler.

wait wait wait, that shop couldn't do ANY welding on the ic piping ??

and they DIDN'T USE TBOLT CLAMPS?

I hope you paid less than 5k for that kit....or you could've gone with turbonetics for less
