Hi, im new to the forums but have read some time. Im trading my srt4 for a 350z, the thing is I have a GT35R turbo with a .82AR exhaust. Im planning on install it, it would be a custom job. Does anyone has this setup? How much boost would be safe?

ain't that hard... buy a couple pipes.... mandrel bend them.. then Tig Weld them.... buy a turbo... buy some couplers... buy some hoses... buy an Intercooler.. boom.. you have a turbo kit

Well, actually it will be made by a friend that fabricates turbo kits for diferent cars. Here are some pics of the turbo kit made for my srt4:

an SRT4 is a much simpler machine than a V6 motor in tight confines. Like I said, if you're at all thinking 'srt4 this' and 'srt4' that, you've got something coming. btw, I'm glad your friend is a welder. Tho he ain't got **** for skills on my fabricator. www.protech-fabrications.com <-----qualified to do aviation titanium fabrication/welding, among many other things.

buy a kit. You'll save money and headaches.

Both single turbo units use similar size turbos. TN uses a 60-1 and APS uses a hybrid gt35r. Have at it man routing a single in there isnt easy though its pretty tight.

Morphin, ur best way to go about things is to grab a TN or APS ST kit and swap out the turbo's for ur turbo, and sell the leftover one.. The GT35R .82 is rated around 550hp so its a nice turbo for our engine

That manifold actually looks pretty good.

Ignore the negativity by other people, go along with the project. Just as your shop is knolegable enough where to route the piping, etc.

With the amount of precision routing of piping involved in squeezing a single gt35r in this car, you'd save money and make more power going with a kit that is thoroughly R&D'd.

I started a thread about a diy turbo kit a while ago. We came up with a lot of great ideas, but also realized how difficult it would be. I will post the link to help you out.

i still think the easiest way would be to duplicate an already existing turbo kit. I feel that the APS single turbo kit, would be the simplest to duplicate, but still by no means would it be easy.

The manifold that your friend makes looks alright. And it couldnt have been that bad if it was on your car. How long did you have it on your SRT-4, and would you be willing to admit if there was ever a problem with it.

BMW FI Kits are $10,000... ok i understand you trying to do it yourself
Z FI Kits are from $5000 up.... is it really worth cutting corners?

Actually, that would be the harder route. Developing a system to pump oil out of the turbo would be much more difficult (and less logical) than routing piping to place the turbo up high. This is the reason why every other custom single turbo kit I've seen has placed the turbo in the engine bay.

not only that but routing the piping OVER the tranny but not touching the frame of the car or firewall.

Once again, I love how people think it's just as simple as any lateral mounted 4 banger.

Thanks for the link.

I have been using the manifold 6 months now without any problem. Is 100% 304 SS with tig welds. Im not worried about copying an existing turbo kit, I have seen excellent work from my friend including a single turbo kit for a VR4, LT1, etc. I know this engine can take 450whp at the most with stock internals and a good tune. I'll start the project and keep you updated guys.
