Darton 3.8L with 12mm headstuds*pics
Wanted to share some pics of a 3.8L; 100mm Arias Extreme Duty Pistons, GTM rods (rated up to 350hp per rod!!!), ARP 12mm head studs
We have planned far ahead and will very soon, have at least 1-2 sleeved shortblocks in stock at all times, to reduce any wait time on a sleeved motor builtZmotor

so if I understand the 3.8 liter setup, if you scratch up the sleeves like if a piston ring breaks or something, can they be bored out anymore to fix the scratch?
also, will the 3.8 liter have any negative effects on reving slower?

This motor is being assembled as we speak..will be a ready to go shortblock by tomorrow and our builder will take pics of the process. Sam.. we should have your shortblock here in 2 weeks time...we will have your heads well before that...yours will ship out days after we receive it...
and after that, we will have one more UNCLAIMED sleeved motor coming in, we'll have that immediately for the next customer..weeks later we will receive 2 more sleeved blocks...this is the plan; always have sleeved blocks in stock, we can do this because, as you can imagine, we have invested lots of $$$ in this company- to insure the best product, at the BEST price...with the fastest turn-around times!!!

INSTEAD: these cylinders are removeable, with a cost of less than $200 for a new darton cylinder, the cylinder can be machined and fit back in the block for much less than going with larger pistons
One of the reasons we go with the Arias Extreme Duty pistons is that their ringlands are THE largest out of all of the forged pistons for the vq35- ALWAYS: the best method is prevention

right, I just remember reading a thread somewhere talking about 3.6L bored adn 3.8L bored out darton sleeves and the caution was that with the 3.8L bore you're pretty much at the edge of what can be bored out. And that if you did break a piston piece and scrateched up the inside of the sleeve, that you couldn't machine it out and you'd need a whole new sleeve - something like that
I'd like to see a before and after dyno lf 3.5 vs 3.8 though I'm sure everyone doing it is planning on going crazy with upping the boost

On average: with oversized headstuds, rev up oil pump, 100mm Arias Extreme Duty pistons, gtm rods, Sleeved block...around $6k give or take

Todd, do you plan on building any revup shortblocks? I would have bought one months ago but there weren't any available. I'll be running on the stock block for a few months but then I'll be looking to buy again. A sleeved revup shortblock would be awesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the block itself of a rev up motor should be identicle to a non-rev up..the only differences are in the oil pump, the heads, timing cover?, cams....
the block itself, as far as I know will be the same part #

The photos are not clear in this area, but the water entry to the left hand cylinder bank at #1 cylinder looks a little small under the top flange of the datron sleeve.
This is the only entry for water to enter that side of the block.

The passage is realtively large for a sleeved block. With a fixed deck design, you are always going to give up a little bit of circulation. But on the dyno, we havent had any cooling issues, especially with the rear cylinder coolant bypass modification.
Todd, love the piston choice.
