Default Just built/blown fuse

My motor was just built and everything is in the car, the mech said he started it and it started fine but it sounded like it was on 5 cilinders. When they went to start it again so that i can see it running it blew one of the 120 a fuse that is right next to the battery. What can cause this problem, and or is there anything that i can tell them to look at? Please help!

Check the wire that goes from where the key goes in to start the car and the battery. A friend had the same thing happen to him while auto-xing and turned out that the wire was rubbing against some metal and wore throught the insulation. Just trace all the connections you or your installer made to check for grounds. Electrical problems are the hardest and most costly to repair. Wish you luck and hope you get the car running.

Replace the fuse and see when it blows again [koeo, start, or run key position]? A short to ground will usually blow a fuse [guess it kinda depends on which wire and where the switch is in a circuit and whether whats causing it is ground controlled or not].

Check the wire that goes to your starter. If the starter wire is resting against something that gets hot (turbo, headers, etc) the car will start once, run fine until you shut if off, and then blow the fuse everytime you try to start it from then on.

Also, when troubleshooting electrical problems its important to know exactly when the fuse blows, as stated above. This usually takes two people. Replace the fuse, and have someone whatch the fuse (or a meter). If the fuse doesn't blow right away turn the key to the ACC position and check the fuse again, then turn to the IGN/On position and check again, then try and crank and check while cranking.

Finally, what fuse is it? What does it control? Is there a name for the fuse?

SHARIF
I have the e-manage for now till i brake the motor in than i will be installing the ultimate-e.
KPIERSON:
If you look at the battery there is a fuse right under the red cap to the positive side, is the one by itself. I don't know the name for it, all i know is that when you turn the key to the acc or on nothing comes on ie: ac, tech or gages.
