Default at what stage do u need a new clutch?

at what horsepower level do u actually need a new clutch? my car has alot of miles on it, so when the block is ripped out to install it, i may just replace the clutch. i probably will anywya, but if i dont need it, then i wont.

im using the speed force racing kit and running it at .6 bar=8.36 or so PSi.

u need a new clutch when you start launching your car. I've used the stock clutch for 8K miles w/o any problems (FI). I tried to launch my car once, it slipped all the way from the 1st to 5th gear and that was when i needed a new clutch.

i am now running the clutch masters stage 4 with upgraded pressure plate also. i can't put down more than 500rwhp with it right now!!! and i never slip the clutch. it doesn't have many miles on it. it starts slipping at about 3500-4000 on the dyno, and if i hammer on it on the freeway, i can feel it slipping and smell it right after.

in other words, get the best clutch you can afford. or else you will be paying labor to do it again. btw- my stage 4 was supposed to handle 650rwhp. the driveability is good, but maybe it did not break-in properly.

I have the Tilton Rally but im possibly looking into something else cause I can't find new disks and throw-out bearing adapters....was also gonna go carbon-carbon for the ability to slip. Any ideas? would suck to go heavier but I dont know what my current options are

you won't need a new clutch if you just roll your car and don't do much flat foot shifts. Go with something else than Exedy, never had good experiences with that (tough they make most of the clutches on the market). go with the Cusco or ATS.

also when do u know ur stock OEM clutch is going bad? thjis is one of the main reasons why i wanted to replace it when the TT install is, it chatters like crazy when the clutch is out. for example, if im idling in neutral. is that normal or a sign of wear and tear?
