Very Happy w/ Vortech #'s (Dyno Tuned)

nice numbers, those test pipes and dual exhaust are probably really helping you out - how loud is it? It's probably louder than my car I'm assuming. I bet with high flow cats, your boost pressure would be more like 10psi and less power
that sudden jump where you're going lean is just a glitch - probably with the throttle. Nothing would ever jump up that quick
to the naysayers about the dynojet conversion:
joedirt tuned at dynocomp, then went over to a local dynojet place (called Dynochip) and made like 11% higher numbers on the dynojet so that's right in line with the ballpark 10% inflated dynojet numbers

I will ask him the next time i get her tuned... I am considering going with the Kinetix SSV soon so I will have to get another tune done.
I hear that the SSV is bunk for N/A but with FI it should give some pretty good gains... I talked my shop into giving me a SSV to try out and get a tune w/ it... They will pay for 1\2 the tune and I will buy the SSV is it makes more HP & TQ than the Crawford...
Otherwise they will pay for my re-tune to the Crawford and take back the SSV...
Not a bad deal if I do say so...
The AF on that chart is all over the place but is much better then when I first got there... I was running pig rich at 9.6 at WOT before the tune... She runs very smooth now and the pull is great!

yeah the A/F is within the range it should be though at least. The SS box should still have enough resolution to smooth it out a little.
for comparison (since our cars were tuned on the same dyno within a month or so apart) I'm looking at my 3.12 dyno graph and even though I wasn't fully tuned (I still have yet to get fully tuned) you're making roughly 0-2 psi more than I was with the 3.12 pulley though from 3000 rpms to redline. Though at that time I made 373whp and had more midrange power as well. At the time the top end detuned because of my lean condition hitting 13 A/F (thank god for racing gas)

well if he's wanting to keep his strut bar and run the vortech and still upgrade something with the plenum, what are the options? You can't use an APS, stillen, or crawford strut bar with the vortech kit
IMO the SSV is better than the stock plenum, weighs 10 lbs less from the top front of the car, and looks cool, doesn't trap heat into the heads as much, makes it easier to change things like fuel rails and injectors cause it's just 6 bolts instead of 18 or whatever with the stock one. You can also actually see one of the fuel rails and a row of injectors to see if there's any leaks or anything - also it looks nice to see your aftermarket fuel rails.
in my case I can also use a thermogasket because my engine is 1/4 inch lower in the engine bay because of my solid motor mounts

Please post your results of you tune, SSV vs Crawford. I have both and cant decide which one to use with my turbonetics kit. I'am having the turbo kit put in at the end of the month. I installed the SSV on my car this week and it ran like crap. For N/A cars crawford pulls alot harder. I ran a 14.0 at the track with the crawford and a 14.5 with the SSV. Curios to see the gains with FI...

I'll post the Dyno for the SSV and the Crawford... both will be tuned at the same place within a couple of weeks of each other...
It is a win / win situation for me... I am getting the install pretty much for free on the SSV and they are paying 50% of my tune w/ the SSV... If it does not make more HP and TQ they will take it of and put the Crawford back on for me and re-tune...
I can't really beat that offer now can I...
And this will once and for all tell the truth about the SSV vs Crawford in a FI car.

that's interesting that the cast plenum weighs more. I wonder if it's made of iron or steel instead of aluminum?

i dunno, maybe for people with 600whp, it might make 10-20whp less than a crawford

I have the stock fuel set up and what came with the full Vortech Kit.
I am thinking about upgrading in the future to 440's and a Walbro pump... Prolly when I do the Cams, pistons and rods.
I am also thinking about going with the E-manage Ultimate as well.... The SS box is very old school to tune as well and very slow where as the E-manage is live.

I can't remember the guys screen name (it was a while ago), but he installed an APS TT, had it tuned, and then installed a SSV and retuned it and lost 20whp. He was in the low 400's on a stock motor. He then put on the APS plenum and gained 30whp with a retune.
