How the unsleeved blocks hold up is my concern. I am getting ready for a rebuild and i am figting weither or not I need to get a sleeved block or I just want a sleeved block. I am looking for, when all said and done atleast 550 to 600. So are the needed that is my only question?

While meatbag brings up a valid point that some of these people are only making one or two dyno runs, I know that bigbri, for example, runs his car hard on the street quite often and has a few times at the track and he has been doing fine. From what I know, quite often the street will put more load on the engine then a dyno will.

I am not quite sure about this but the turbo kit could also have a determining factor in how well the engine holds up as boost may come in different on one turbo kit compared to another and put slightly more load on the engine.
The only other thing which I would like to point out is that BigBri also revs his engine to 8000rpms if I am not mistaken which is far hard on the engine then the compressive force of boost.

If your gonna build a alum. block for 600+ you have to sleeve it. I dont care, this is what i learned from having a turbo honda and 6 engines. People are just being cheap about there build, if your gonna stay with under 500, you can get away with no sleeve's, but only time will tell....

personally, if i had the money to build a 700+ monster i would spend the extra dough and sleeve that bad boy
youre basically having the rebuild the block with new heads, cams, pistons, rods, crank, valve train etc anyways?
