Default Oil Catch can install question...

Got my cusco oil catch can in yesterday and I mounted it in the engine bay between the radiator and the engine. I saw many pictures of the lines going to the hose that is at the intake manifold and to the pcv valve on top of the passenger side valve cover, but then I noticed alot of guys with FI have them running the other direction, but I don't know where too. So, where is the best place to run them too or is where I have it fine?

To the nipple in the intake-I forget if there is a nipple on the drivers side valve cover? OT but what size hose did you buy 9mm or 15mm? Im looking into one soon...

thanks alberto, i read that thread, but must have just been skimming because I completely missed that post (guess i was more searching the pictures, wish I could see all of Todd's in the first post ).

So, how exactly should it be routed then? One hose goes to pipe on the side of the drivers side intake, but where exactly does the other end of the catch can go to?

here are a couple of pics of where it sits now (good 'ol camera phone pics)...

Most connect the other end from the passenger side where the PVC valve is on the passenger side valve cover. That way oil/vapors go from passenger side where its not baffled (somebody mentioned lookin gat the service manual the drivers side is baffled by a valve?) through the catch can and fresh air is pulled into the motor by the drivers side intake nipple. My Q/concern is-under boost wouldnt that suck all the oil out o fthe catch can? The answer in the search was to fill it with steel wool....

I read that thing about the steel wool, but how are you suppose to put steel wool in a catch can that has no opening like that? And isn't the catch can already baffled?

So, I put one end to the pcv on the passenger side and the other end to the intake to the turbo? That would mean I would have an open port on the front of the manifold and an open port going to the drivers side valve cover...would I then connect these two??

I only have oil residue in the hose entering the catch can (from the valve cover) and none in the hose exiting the catch can (to the intake).

LOL. I know that's the point of the can. I'm just saying that I haven't obvserved any oil getting sucked out of the can...yet.

same story here - the clear lines that come with the Greddy catch can show residue coming in, but clear going back out.
and with reference to the steel wool, i think you just have to stuff it into those tiny holes. it may take a while, but should work.

so I never really got a for sure answer....

the one side of the hose goes to the turbo intake tube and the other side to the passenger valve cover? and then you connect the drivers side valve cover to the manifold???

I would just like to have it less vague.

The drivers side you can put a filter on and vent it into the atmosphere. Just plug the hole on the intake tube. If you guys actually look at the upper and lower intake manifold, you can see which hose has the most oil vapor. The passenger side goes in the middle of the manifold where there are very tiny holes that vaccum in some oil. The drivers side is the hose that distributes the oil and oil vapor into the upper and lower manifold through the TB inlet.

Good thread. Did anyone figure out which size hose we are supposed to get, 9 or 15 mm?
I am considering either the Cusco or the Greddy. I think I like the Cusco better for looks and the easy drainage option.

Thanks. I did end up getting the Greddy. I'm just still not positive how I want to run the lines as far as my FI goes. I don't want to take any chances...
I'm still thinking about it.
