Man that blows, so def. let us know what they find when they tear down the motor.

Wonder what Mark means by the "those kits have nothing but problems", kinda doesn't seem like a fair statement.

So are you using the Re-Flash or some other EMS... Cause you say 9 psi which is not the stock setting for boost.

Agreed, as long as there is nothing wrong with the parts for the kit. What caused your motor to blow could have been something else since you were not even in boost.

Oh take pics please of the damage (directed to the starter of the thread).

Please don't take offense to this, but I am so sick of all the "this is why I don't go FI" pansies. If you won't take the risk because you can't afford a new motor or if you are just to scared that's fine, but STFU already. Some of us don't give a *** if the motor blows or can afford a new motor without thinking about it twice........we'll just rebuild! Bigger and Better!

sorry to hear about your motor xluv. Don't worry things will get better and after you drive the car on the built motor you aren't going to sell anything.

The answer is most likely since you didnt have your car tuned!!! Not because you have FI!! There are plenty of people running FI on their stock VQ with little to no problems. The Turbo and SC kits out there are all pretty good, Greddy, Power Enterprise, Jim Wolf Tech, HKS, etc.

Case ended running around with a 10:5:1 compression non forged pistons and rods without a tune is a great way to blow your engine up.
WHOA!!! NO TUNE??...

that explains a lot.

yeah, it sucks that your motor blew..........what i really want to know is this since i'm looking into the tn st setup.....
1. what kit did you install....1 or the 1.5?
2.if 1.5, what em did you use, was there any tuning? sounds like you were running without any tuning from whats posted here...
3. no offense, a motor can blow if kit, any f/i for that matter, is not properly installed......regardless, post the root cause when you can........thanks.

It's rather funny that when about a month ago I was at performance motorsports in LI doing a pumpkin swap and while I was at it I inquired about FI options they are offering.
According to them all of the JWT, Vortech and TN kit are perfect on out-of-box tune, nothing else is needed and to quote the gentleman that I was speaking to "I don't understand why everyone is so crazy about tuning...".

Even if there is damage to turbo itself, take advantage of their famous "no hassle" warranty, replace all the damaged parts and sell the kit...

You'll turn more heads, but they'll quickly turn back away when they see that you are not much faster then stock...

9psi? Aftermarket exhaust? That is slight overboosting.

Sorry to hear about your motor. Keep us posted on the cause.

let me get this straight, you were running higher than stock boost on the reflash, on 91 octane, and I see no mention of a wideband sensor.....

WERE YOU RUNNING A WIDEBAND SENSOR?

seems to me this is more your fault than the kit's fault.
