+1 It's a great place to visit, but I don't think that I'd want to live there. Viva Las Vegas.

Just buy the kit and throw a CARB sticker on from a pop charger . 90% of the cops wont know the difference.

Good point.

If I still had my Z this would be the kit I'd want. I remember seeing it for sale somewhere... just can't remember. If I find it, I'll post it.

Many of the smog shops around here dont care about the carb stickers as long as you pass the sniffer. thats the way it should be. these shops get my respect; people should not blindly follow laws if they are idiotic and plain wrong.

Get the car smogged and registered and then put the TT kit on and you don't have to worry for a while. Hopefully by then Jim Wolf will have the CARB sticker. I know there is no way to know, but you either want the kit now or you can wait. Me personally, I could not wait and I have my fingers crossed that in the next year and a half he gets the sticker.

Bonani, I like the idea of the Popcharger sticker, I will have to try that.

I thought the new smog tests were just a plug into the OBDII port. A guy here just passed smog with an APS ST and no cats.

Nope...

In CALI, you have to pass visual inspection, and it's a rollling test now.
Car is set on a couple of different speeds on rollers (like a dyno) with a sniffer hooked up.

CALI smog laws suck.

+1 IIRC, new cars in CA require smog every 4 years...possible even every 6 years.

Cars '02 and newer, smog is every 6yrs. So, you have time to enjoy it for awhile before deciding what to do about smog. Im sure most guys with FI have the smog hook-up anyways. If you get cited for illegal smog modification, its a fixit and visit to the Ref for smog and visual inspect.

In Arizona, the smog test for '96 and newer vehicles is the ODBII check but they can do a visual check for removed/modified emission control devices (i.e. cats). Test is every 2 years.
