Has anyone had a reflash and lost their rev limiter after some time? I am not sure if that has happened on mine, but I am getting a little worried. I have a Vortech w/ AT5 and I usually manually shift. The reflash was set to 7100 and I have bounced off of it quite a few times. (sometimes even in auto mode) Lately, I shift around 6900, my tach goes to 7500+ when it actually shifts and I never hit a limiter. Any ideas?

 

Thats a normal problem with 5AT and FI, Valve body upgrade is supposed to fix it.

 

ummm, no - what he describes does NOT sound normal...

A VB will just speed up shifts - should have no effect on the rev limiter itself.

Unfortunately I can't think of anyway to "read" the ecu stored rev limit without taking the ecu out. Not sure if CIPHER can read what's been flashed so you can confirm that it is set to 7100 and not some goofy out of range value...

 

If you read up on the 5AT and FI you will see that bouncing off the rev limiter is a common problem and solved by the VB upgrades.

 

The problem is that I am NOT hitting a limiter at 7500+

I am not saying don't worry, but beware that the stock tach isn't the most accurate gauge available

If you're worried, find a cheap aftermarket tach to rig up for a short while to see if that's really what is happening.
