The spec clutch will be fine. (under)Rated at 525 tq. I am running the 2+ on my car and haven't had the clutch slip yet.
As far as maxing out the turbo, he will need a new fuel system (at least injectors) and EMS to max it out. I would think he could pull about 440-460 whp on the APS out of box setup (maybe an upgraded actuator). He should pull near 500 lbs of tq though.
We've installed a few SPEC 3+ with their flywheel into a few of our customers' TT G35, ST 350, N/A 350 and supply a few shops in the area with the 3+ for the VQ35. Their clutch has been great to us!
We have had a 3+ with an upgraded pressure plate to hold upwards to 800 lb/ft of TQ. I am awaiting a full report from my customer to seehow he likes it.

You won't reach 500whp most that have tried can only get in the 440 range and that is with stock compression. I am assuming you went with lower compression on your built motor. I suspect you will be around the 430 - 450whp although your torque may be considerably higher. With the APS ST it seems as though the key ingredient will be cams in order to reach your goal...

agreed. Right from the beginning we kinda all felt that fuel and EMS seems to be the limiting factor. After I break in the motor and tune it, I'll see where I'm at.... next spring will be the EMS and upgraded fuel system. I have full faith in GRD!

wtf had a build aps single, iirc he made 450 from GRD. 500 is gonna be on the edge of the turbos eff range regardless of how much fuel you got. i wish you the best tho synth. make us aps folks proud.

tony, those numbers are crank hp. do you know what psi those cars are running. the evo is probably somewhere around 20-25psi.
ziv, isnt the fuel supply included in the single and twin aps kit the same. why can some achieve 500+ with the system but you say 450 is the limit?

enron, wtf did have a built motor, but i think there are people running built motors with the stock aps fuel setup making 500. i may be wrong.
ive seen a few evos running high boost making those numbers running meth. even a few with a 37R making around 550. but the majority of evos with 35rs are right at 500, which if you calculate 25% drivetrain loss is around 675 crank hp, which is higher than what garrett says it will produce.
i really hope he gets 500, that would be great. im just a little sceptical.

thats due to the cams. quite impressive since im at 12psi and only making 380ish. still, you get to a point where upping the boost hurts more than helps, and id bet its at 500-525 with this turbo on this engine.
is the 440 at 9.5 with the c-16? what exhaust do you have?

WTF's setup was dropped compression and the out of box APS setup. He didn't have fuel to go beyond 440-450 whp. With the addition of at least injectors (preferably a full return style) and injector scalable EMS, 500 would be no problem with the APS ST setup.
