Sorry, I thought this was with APS supplied injectors. May as well max out the turbo in that case...I'm curious to see the numbers

How's the motor running? Did you get it tuned yet? What pistons/rods did you go with?

Custom GRD forged pistons and rods, I'll get you more specifics later on. Not sure who they are using. Tune was yesterday, after our meet/bbq @ GRD today had some fun on the highway with saad. Feels great tuned. Tuan was conservative, boost not holding up as many of you guys know. I have the forged actuator, but probably need a different spring. Tuan's going to call Forge tomorrow. I don't have the dyno yet, HP was kinda unimpressive considering what I had done, but again, Tuan did not want to push it. There was an oil leak on the block, no fault of GRD, but from the machine shop. Car was brought back to the machine shop and they fixed it with a real simple weld. However, we're still not 100% sure that it's fixed.

They put the dye in the oil, and I'll bring it back on Tuesday. Hopefully under the blacklight we can make sure there are no more leaks. Once that is confirmed and I get the right spring, then I'll have another tune. Tuan really feels he can get me up to around 450-470rwhp. crossing my fingers. I do have to admit I was impressed with tq, I believe close to 450. I didnt see the dynosheets because it was way too hectic today @ the shop.

We just recently dynoed at 445whp and 430 on race fuel at 10psi. if you can get your boost up to 13-14psi, i think your numbers are doable. we installed scott's stage 1 cams to get our number.

we are at 425whp 420trq at 10psi on 93octane. right now we have the utec bcs controlling the pressure. the utec doesnt like it when we try to mess with the duty cycle. we just left it at 9.5-10psi. if i build the motor i'll probably go twins. i went to the track and ran a 12.6@115mph(100 octane). i had a 2.0 60ft. i had drag radials on but this is a full weight g35 with stereo system.

Same path I'm pursuing come this Winter: a motor from Todd @ BuiltZMotors with cam upgrade, APS' soon-to-be-released external wastegate to hold boost in the mid to upper teens, larger injecters and a new EMS. Prolly would be a good time to finally look at upgrading the clutch.

^ I REALLY hope Peter releases that External wastegate....it will be my last resort if the higher PSI rated spring doesn't work out.

Hmm, I wonder if they're GTM pistons and rods? Is the machine shop local? Yikes, if I go with GRD, I may just ship them the motor instead of dealing with their machine shop.

^ I wouldnt really worry about their local machine shop. The issue was very small and there were two ways to deal with it. GRD knew exactly what they DIDN'T do. I wouldnt worry about it now. GRD is also on their a$$es and pretty much will ensure they do things right the first time. This machine shop has done dozens of motors for GRD, weird situation with me though.

wow, sounds like a solid plan.

not to disappoint, but im worried this turbo wont be reliable in that boost range, i still feel the turbine housing is what is partly responsible for the problems, you might need to change that out for a larger one. but i wish you the best.

BTW did you ever get your new one in and swap everything out.

JoeDirtPharmD, we're pretty close on our goals and future plans. I need to upgrade the fuel system and get a better EMS as part of my "stage II" FI plan in the spring. Since GRD is now an authorized fcon dealer/tuner, the price is making me think twice.

Tig - new CHRA came in this morning, sent the gf down to pick it up - will have pics tonight on the other forum.

I got to looking at the compressor housing - dunno if this is 'normal' or not but the bolt holes penetrate the inside of the compression housing, so when it's attached to the CHRA, the bolts, in essence, protrude into the airstream in the housing. Odd...

Synth - I feel your pain - I'm really apprehensive about dumping another $8k into this thing, but... ah, what the hell, eh? Just need to finish up this Scion tC and get it sold to free up the $$$. Target date for 'Stage II' completion is Jan '07 pending APS' release. Have you decided what EMS to use? I'm very attracted to having multiple MAPS avail, so the UTEC may be the affordable answer for my situation. Don't really have the means to step up into the high-$$$ EMS, but the current UniChip isn't going to serve my needs for mult. MAPS.

Peter said he'll have pics of the new wastegate when he returns from vacation in a week... keep an eye out for them

you mean turbine or comp? my turbine housing has a few of the bolt holes showing thru, there shouldnt be any in the comp housing because there is extra aluminum added for the bolts on it on the outside of the housing.

Honestly, fcon will be nice. But not sure if I really need that much for my goals. I want to be around 500whp and fcon seems to be a bit overkill. I really have to be mindful of my budget...but we will see.
