Default Turbo Kit Self Install

How many of you installed your Turbo kit yourselves?

If you have the tools, decent garage, and know what your doing, why not.

Anyone run into any problems doing it themselves?

Doing mine this weekend, but when Bert and I took it off, it took us 3 hours to pull it and put his car back together. TN kit btw.

I am definitly installing mine myself and looking foward to it. I don't trust anyone locally here with my car. Even the TN dealer I have been working with encuraged me to do it myself so it must not be to hard.

Honestly, if you have the right tools, access to a nearby hardware store in case you need more tools, a service manual, and plenty of time, (and preferably a knowledgable friend who lives within ~1 hr drive) then you should be able to do anything yourself. It's just hard taking responsibility in case you mess up...no one to fix it but yourself.

My APS TT kit was installed in the back garage. If you have the right tools and are mechanically inclined, you should be able to do it.

Did my greddy kit myself, seemed easy to me you just need basic tools. The only problem I had was reinstalling the motor. If your pulling your motor for the install, pull the transmission too it will save alot of frustration.

you can pull the motor out easily without pulling the tranny, you just have to get the right angle and make sure that the gear oil is drained out...

i did my full motor swap, build, turbo kit in my backyard along with Matts ZUL8Rs same exact thing, both Greddy TT kits, both with hand tools and jack stands, with the help of a cherry picker, its easy..

the TN kit is really easy also compared to the full twin turbo kits....

good luck

i did it myself on the garage floor. i only used a set of ramps. I would recommend having a great selection of hand tools, air tools and a compressor. I found having an impact wrench very helpful. I also found I needed to buy some specialty sockets to reach one very difficult nut (wastgate discharge to Downpipe 1 flange.)

I figured someone would say that...

Bert's motor blowing had nothing to do with the install.

^^This is true lol Jeremy. To the guy who asked it it blew, yes it did, not due to install, or tuning. Obviously the car ran like a raped ape-my over revving is what I think drastically shortened my engines life span, if you had read my thread or any of my posts you would know that, instead you threw out a captain obvious statement, for that I thank you...
