Default APS Extreme Twin Turbo Kit

Has anyone had it installed yet? I know it came out almost 2 months ago. I'm really anxious to see what it puts down. I haven't seen any posts about it for around a month so I figured that I'd ask.

We havent installed one yet, but do have them in stock. It is an awesome kit..any way you slice it. It is really designed for those looking for a minimum of 550whp, and can easily produce 800whp. Becuase many people already have turbo kits, it really is the realm of someone that is installing an FI kit AND building up their motor for the first time.

Sharif, besides building the motor, what about the trany, etc. What else needs to be done for the extreme vs the other APS TT?

I'm just waiting for my warranty to go up to do this. I don't want any thing on my car to go before and have it be void.

Is 550whp the least it'll go? I was wanting a set up that I could run it around 500whp for most driving, but when I wanted to feel the power I could boost it up. I heard of a EMS that would allow it to be tuned for two different set-ups.

I believe the Magnetti Marrelli that we offer and the UTEC both have switch on the fly maps.

Thanks, I didn't know that. It is definately harder to get the Unichip as well as Marrelli tuned as most shops don't have the capability.

For now yes. I think as more shops and more importantly customers start seeing the benefits of the Unichip Q and Marrelli EMS there will be more shops interested in becoming tuners..

Very true. I know the Marrelli is designed specifically for much higher horsepower cars and is definately not for everyone. It hasn't been and will not be marketed towards the "normal" 500rwhp car unless it is some type of race car or someone with specific needs. With the release of the APS Extreme Kit, the capabilities have increased substantially.

5 map ability with a stand alone 5 position switch (on the fly)
Closed Loop Boost contorl (tied to 5 map switch)
Of course fuel and timing control
Bluetooth access to the Unichip allowing simulated G tech style measurements along with the ability ti switch maps via the bluetooth link. Can also watch real time reading from the engine via the link and alter the tune via the link as well
6 channel datalogging via the bluetooth link
Plug and play harness
etc. etc
I'm attaching a excerpt from Modified Mag on it (they used it to tune their built motor Turbonetics Z)

Does the Unichip offer Variable Cam Control? I believe the Marrelli is the only one or am I wrong?

You can change the springs on the external gates, and run less boost pressure, and with a conservative tune, it could probably be detuned to 500whp. For the record, I havent tried this, to determine how the larger turbo chargers would respond at 8-10psi, but it seems feasible.

WSchi,

With 550whp+, you will need to upgrade to a twin or triple disc carbon clutch from ATS/Across, and upgrade your axles to Level2's. Most people in this power level also run after market LSD's, such as an ATS Carbon diff (my favorite), or a Quaife.

The only kit I have any data on is the Modified Mag car that article shot came from. They were limited by the turbo size a bit and a crappy exhaust.
