Question Used turbo Kits and a few other questions

ok, so i am now considering going F/I but i have a few questions

it seems like there are some awesome deals out there for used turbo kits. what are some things that i should know about risks with used kits, any first hand knowledge would be great.

second, i am currently looking at the turbonetics st and the greddy tt, what costs and time frame are associated with installing each one.

third, i would like to make about 350rwhp, can i do this safely with out blowing engine to bits?

thanks in advance,
james

I would go with the TN out of the box kit. The greedy has potential to go big...going big mean twice the parts to make (and brake) big HP, but twice the supporting parts too. Clutch, flywheel, brakes, injectors, fuel return etc.

I personally would go Supercharged (Stillen or Vortech) to get 350RWHP or the complete TN kit.

Complete Greedy with safe fuel and supporting parts around 30K! Seriously...do some searching for cost on the site and you will find that doubling you bugdet is common when modding these cars. 5k for the kit...mean 10K for the complete package all said and done.

I think the TN kit out of the box and maybe a supporting clutch would do the trick..I am 50/50 with the TN single and the Stillen stage 4 for my G35c (2005 6sp Rev -Up).

Mileage on used turbos is what you want to look for and how was the car used....5K on the track is nothing compaired to 5K on the highway, but who is honestly going to tell you that the car was draged raced every weekend?

...but from this site, rebuilds of your used turbos are worth the peice of mind and worth the investment.

my 2 cents.

Been there done that. Be very careful when u buy a used turbo kit. The reason i tell you this is,because you now become the 3rd party of the kit.If the kit is defective (you know where im going with this). If its a TN kit you might be alright because miaplaya will hook u up as TN always does. The problem is that you save some money on the kit but if a part ever goes bad you would have to pay to un/reinstall. i purschased a kit used on this site and i got a great deal but one of the turbos went bad (smoking)so after i paid my mecanic $$$ to find the problem which was the turbo i then had to send turbo back to manufacter. In the end the used kit cost me as much as new hahahaa....live and learn.

I'm actually selling a greddy tt kit. Installed by p1 auto and tuned by sharif @ foreged internals which is now foreged performace. Only looking for $3,500 only reason so cheap is because I blew one turbo. The kit is already out and comes with everything you need for the turbo install. Intercooler and the emanage blue. I would keep this but I am going big. So I'm gonna go with aps extreme but that's another story. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call. Well just pm me I'll give you the number lol. K thanks

It's the greddy tt kit. Cost about 2 g's to install. Then you have to send the turbo to a shop to rebuild them. Turbochargers.com somewhere in texas, I was going to send the turbos there and get them rebuilt to tdo6 60-1. But you should just keep them stock. Shouldn't cost you that much. Pretty much a new kit after you rebuild the turbos. I would also go with a upgraded fuel system I have the AAM complete fuel system stage one. Perfect for a stock motor setup. If you get this kit I will sell the fuel system for half the orginal price. Because I will upgrade that also. Hmm what else would you need.. Greddy Profec e01? I have that also if you need it. I would just go with the utec tho. Well if there's any other info I can give you, just pm me. Screen name is sam2slow on AIM.

ooooooooo, the meet got you hooked eh?

Make it as safe as you can from the start, even if it cost extra $$$.

On a ease of install side, you could look into nitrous.
