Boost Guage Q's
I just installed an Auto-Meter boost gauge for a Vortech SC. It reads aroun d 25 vacuum at idle, and when I punch it I can only get the guage up to 0? Whats goin on?

will it just fly up to 8psi which I believe im at instantly? In other words hold hold hold boost. Like so fast that you would miss it ina split second? Or does it gradually build up like you could watch it 1,2,3......8psi?

Under partial throttle the bypass valve will vent the boost no matter what Rpm you are at. You need to put load on the engine while accelerating and you will see the boost increase pretty quickly around 3500 rpms to redline. Its difficult to keep your eyes on the rpms, road, and boost gauge at the same time though.
If this is the electronic version, not mechanical, to operate properly the Autometer boost gauge must have the red + power hooked to a switched power source that maintains power during engine cranking. If you have it hooked to an accessory power source that breaks during cranking, it cannot do the auto zero calibration. I had that problem when my gauge was installed, switching the power source to one that maintained power during cranking fixed it. Hope this helps.

you need to be in gear and driving. The engine needs a load against it to "make boost."

nothing is going on, because you're expecting the s/c to act like a turbo!
