On a 2nd look, the pic "side view of #6" shows metal to metal contact to where the ring landing and rings are worn down to a rough surface. The piston skirt has lost most of its factory anti friction coating. The center of the piston skirt shows metal to metal wear as well.

#6 seems to be the worst bent rod and the dmg on the piston shows.

Sick!!! This is like looking at a bomb 1/2 a second from blowing.

edit: After you clean them, can you take some more pics?

Well ALL of the rods are bent. Some worse than others...The culprit, and I really believe my life saver, of the knock was: The number 6 connecting rod was bent the worst and it was shorter. so on the down stroke the bottom of the piston skirt was hitting the oiler bar. Man i was lucky for that. All of the bearings look to be in pretty good shape seeing how bent the rods where...i have tons of pix but heres a few views of the rods:

Pistons look great. No scaring or scoring on the cylinder walls. Crank journals are great. motor i very clean. Still consider myself VERY lucky! If it wouldnt have bent just that much to barely hit the oiler bar I would have pushed it harder and more than likely to a much more dramatic end!
looks like mine when i tore my stock motor apart for my build. i had 4 pistons with broken ring lands though to go with it.
funny thing though. i just pulled apart a 3000 mile old VQ35 and the rods did not appear to be completely straight on a stock low mile motor either. nothing like your pics mind you, but don't think they would pass a rod straightness test from the factory.
the ones i like are the ones that bend into an S that are on the journal centerline, lol.

You're welcome guys about the pics!

I will clean them all up and get more pics of them and the bearings and cylinged walls.

#6 was definitely the worst. You could actually look down and see the ring on one side while it was still in the block!

Woo im a lucky **** thats forsure!!!

Man, that was ugly. The factory rods are a joke when compared to pauter/gtm/eagle. Good luck with your build. I'm sure glad I'm doing mine now.

I believe the short blocks on a rev up are exactly the same...just the heads are different...but thats just a guess...
