Hello everyone

I am currently running a Greedy TT - with the emanage and eo1 boost controler- i have been running 7 psi now for over a year and not one problem. i would like to up the boost- but as my intentions for this post... how much can the stock block handle? is there any recomended electronics that would help me run more boost safer? any and all thoughts are apperciated.

Are you using the Emanage blue that was supplied with the kit? If so your safest bet would be upgrading to a EMS better suited for our cars. Either the UTEC or if possible the HKS FCON would be ideal. Engine Management really is the MOST important part of any FI setup and most people overlook it.

With that said, the proper EMS with a good tune should give you a reliable 380-400whp with around 8.5psi or so depending on the setup you have.

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me. Good Luck!

i would say anymore boost and you might as well build up the block.

If my memorey serves me correctly i think West Pak was running on 9psi for a while but im not sure if he kept it there.

who tune it for u ??? r u sure all ur injectors working fine ??

a stock block can handle 450 whp without any problems.
but u have to get a better EMS, or an ultimate-emanage is good allso, we run the U-emanage in one of the cars here in kuwait and it puts 440whp, and there is no problems 8.5 psi was the boost

get a fuel system and a new EMS with oil cooler and radiator. let some great tuner tune it for u. some one like sherif in forged performance. and ull be safe 100 %

A good tune is the key. I am boosting 11.5 no problems with a UTEC, but I am switching to a FCON this friday for more saftey.

thats applicable 50% of the time, A good tune is key, however this is never 100%. Some rods just reach their limit ans snap, and it is simply because they are being asked to produce double the designed HP.

+1

And rev up motors seem to handle more power than non rev up motors.

Sharif tuned it for me. So I guess it's not 100% safe if he tunes it. All injectors were returned to Deatschwers and were in perfect working order. I have the UTEC as well. The stock rods suck @ss. End of story.

OK.... I retract that statement. That's what Sharif told me just the other day.

The only differenc are the rod end bolts are more beefy, the rods are EXACTLY the same..When was the last time you say the rods snap at the crank end??They snap in the middle..

The rod bolt is what makes the rod a stronger setup. I am not 100% certain, but I thought the PN for the rev up rod was different, but I can see no physical differences between the two. My point is that the rods hold up better on the rev-ups, and dont bend and become mangled.

I second this... bottom end of the rev-up still LOOKS just as frail Maybe thr rod bolt difference affords a bit more strength?? But as time has told, a built motor is the most reliable proactive step for F/I on the vq.

I think i have one of the longest boosted engines on a stock block. I currently have 62000 miles, my car was boosted at 28k. I've made 400whp or more the whole time.
My reason for why its lasted is one the tune, two my regular 2500-3k oil changes and monitoring oil level, consistent mix of about 4+ gal 100oct every fill-up, and my Z32 Oil cooler.

Eaglegreen has been beating the **** out of his rev up that we tuned to 473whp on our dyno at about 11psi...well over 500whp on a dynojet. So far, its been holding up. Of course all of this conjecture is pure speculation, but he drives his car much harder than the vast majority of my customers.

And notice how there have been virtually no reports of rev-ups actually popping? I believe the only one was Paranomal, and he admitted didnt have it tuned at all.

That is not the case, he had his stock Motor tuned at AAM and ran it 2000-3000 miles then threw a rod bearing and wiped his crank..He then proceeded to blow a fully built motor from not following break in procedures and boosting the hell out of it untuned..His thrid motor is together as far as I know, despite crashing the car 3 days after getting it back..
I do not believe that the rev up motors hold up any better than the non rev up motors with the exception of over revving.I have yet to date to see a rod that has failed at the crank end regardless of rev-up or non rev-up. The only difference we can see is the rod bolts and lower plenum and variable timing on intake and exhaust cams with an increased soft rev limit. The higher revs require the rod bolts of course...
Just for arguments sake we ran the **** out of a stock 2003 bottom end, somewhere in the vacinity of 11-13 psi daily and on the track VERY HARD to run consistant 11.5 passes, and it held up for over 30,000 miles and still ran right up until the point he hit a pole with his car.....I just think its how lucky one is.
But IMHO the rev ups have not proven to us to be any more BEEFY than the non rev ups..They will make a few more HP, but the heartyness of the internals is IMHO a non relavant issue..

Well the Turbo kits, tuners, and EMS have come a long way since the early days of the VQ35. But all of the engines are not made equally.

But when you think how Greddy got such a bad rap in the first couple of months of there TT debut. Now everyone is running this set-up for high a$$ hp set-up this is a testament to the great tuners the have come to for front of our tuning wolrd.
