just purchased a UTEC, ditching Unichip...
i just bought a UTEC setup with map sensor and switch. im tired on running it without anybody within 500 miles being able to tune it. im wondering who here has ditched the unichip for the UTEC, if so please post here so i can PM you with some questions. also, i remember seeing MRC posted about using the aps boost solenoid to control boost via the UTEC, but i remember seeing something about it not really working right, if that works ill see my EBC and use the aps solenoid. any info on that? what about the CAS wire, do i need to purchase a new shielded one to replace the one with the unichip?
TIA.
TIA.
Look in the tuning section. We've been talking about this for a while now. UTEC's version 2.8 JUST came out the other day. It's supposed to have fixed the bugs that wouldn't let the UTEC control and map boost.
I just replaced my unichip with a utec. The aps solenoid won't work from wht I understand. When I bought mine they sold me the gm solenoid and said it would work. The new upgrade from TXS is supposed to allow there solenoid to work. A word of advice make sure you clean cas connector well from the stock harness. Try to insert some small pins in it to clean out any corrosion that may have built up over time. Tomorrow I go for a retune. If there are any questions I can help with ask.

I'm really interested in how the UTEC install/tune is going to work out for you. I've thought about ditching the Unichip but it seems there are still some issues with the UTEC. I'm actually looking forward to the Cobb tuning solution.
I haven't read about anybody getting the UTEC to control boost properly. I'd just use the EBC from the get go. Regarding the CAS wire, I'm pretty sure most ppl just cut the one off the Unichip and splice it to the UTEC.

My tuner remove it with the unichip so I could sell it. I've never heard of anyone cutting the wire and resplicing it back into the stock wiring harness. The only wires that were cut was the power line for the boost solenoid. I'll find out if there upgrade works tomorrow. The cobb sounds good, but they don't have a answer for those of us that are boosted.
im not sure i would worry about a CAS wire? I never bothered installing a shielded one on my car until like 3 weeks ago. ehh, didnt change anything for me. I put a boosted 350z on an o-scope a couple years ago to look for this supposed interferance, but every sample I took was unreal in its textbook quality and clarity.
I dont know, but the unichip manipulates the actual CAS signal to control timing... which is kinda funny since that will proportionally throw off your cam timing, but anyway... Maybe the unichip itself is the source of CAS interference in a Z experiencing it? Cause I didnt see anything on this car that had an E-Manage in it.

You know i went from unichip to UTEC. i use the turbxs bcs and it works for the limited amount of boost i am running (9-10psi). i havent talked to my installer about the new update yet. i'll probably leave everything alone till i decide what my next horsepower move is.
