Default Vortech Not Boosting Right???

So I've been having some recent issues with my Vortech Z. Never have had problems like this. Between 2-3k rpm it falls on its face. Totally bogs out. Then not until after 4000rpm it opens up but I'm probably maxing out at 6psi. It feels like if I punch the gas there is a delay and my car chokes on itself. I've been lucky to get the help from Dr Todd (350zdcalb) but we can't find the problem. I don't think the belt is slipping and I don't believe I have an exhaust leak but maybe a vacuum leak. My idle is steady. He put new oem injectors in. When I start the car it seems like it takes longer for the fuel level guage to even out. Any help please

All the belts are recently replaced. There is a delay on throttle response.

Hey Jason,

As discussed on the phone, the symptoms are consistant with a boost leak... while we fixed the one smal boost leak, a larger leak likely exists. We'l get it up in the air and examine the intercooler piping, etc.

EVERYONE ELSE WITH A VORTEC: any common locations where you guys have seen boost leaks, any tips, I am very familiar with the greddy tt and aps tt, but the vortec is a new animal...not any more difficult (actual more simplistic), but nevertheless, any tips may help save us some time

Thanks
TODD

Is something goofy with with bov operation? Spring sticking, or vacuum issue, kinked vacuum line?

I was thinking about the BOV malfunctioning. Is it supposed to sputter during idle?

the car should be under vacuum at idle and therefore the bov should be open as normal.

My BOV is pretty silent at idle, but I can feel the air coming through. I guess the answer is no.

At idle it should not sputter, should be full open like Chimmike said Bov is under vacuum at this point. Can you do vacuum test at the bov to see if you are maintaining correct vacuum from on and off idle?
If thats good I would look closer at the Bov itself, make sure it's not sticking open at any point.

Actually, the BOV should be fully venting at idle. I've been under my car while it was idling and the BOV was shooting out air, but quietly. That air is coming from the compressor and not making its way to the engine. The throttle body is closed at idle, so that makes sense. The engine is getting its air to breathe at idle from the hose that goes from the filter to the throttle body. My idle vacuum is at 23-25 hg/mm with the BOV fully venting.

Sounds like a sticky spring in your BOV . Have you checked your plugs also ?

SungNamZ changed my plugs less than a year ago. Probably 15k miles or less.
