I bought a rebuilt trans for my Z. I transfered the shift fork, throwout bearing, dust cover to the new trans. I installed the trans and no matter what I would do the drive shaft would spin, even when the car was in gear. SO I pulled it back out. I checked over everything and its all good! I did notice that the dust boot for the new trans isnt the same as my 04 trans. My buddy came over to give things a look and seems to think there are different shift forks for different year trannies. So I thought I would install it again. I got it within 1/4 of a inch and the driveline was locked! I was like finally!!! But when I bolted things up and closed the gap from the trans to the motor it isnt locked anymore. It has to be the shift fork and it can only go in one way. SO do any of you shop guys or guys that know tranny's know if there are different shift forks for different year trannies?

 

BTW the old trans that came out of my car is a 03 trans.
