Default Turbonetics Turbo Seal Leaking AGAIN !!!! (3rd Turbo)

This is my second rebuiltTurbonetics turbo since getting my kit 11 months ago and third turbo in all. This 3rd turbo was rebuilt by Turbonetics and has been on the car for 800 mi. 540 of which were driving on the highway from Atlanta to Florida. The first turbo blew a seal and was smoking really badly. The second rebuilt turbo was smoking moderately from the time it was installed. This third rebuild turbo is smoking as well. The smoke from the exhaust is pretty thick when coming off WOT. I don't understand this problem. Is it an oil pressure problem? Is the Turbo getting too much oil pressure?

I thought the drain line could be the problem. The drain line was originally installed into an AAM oil pan spacer for the first and second turbo. For the third I decided to return it to the upper oil pan as per Turbonetics instructions. There has been no improvment from moving the turbo oil return to the upper oil pan.

Any ideas?HELP !!!!!

Geebus, boy do I feel lucky that I haven't had that issue. Maybe this time around Reggie can get you a different turbo and not rebuilding yours again... Since it keeps happening.

Man that is weird. Also just to ask, what oil are you using? And is your car having some time to cool before you turn her off?

Even with light driving I still let her run a couple of min. before shutting her off.

if the turbo seals were bad, the car would smoke all the time, not just after off WOT.....................

what color is the smoke (white or black) bc it could be a blown gasket or maybe just due to the cold weather (able to see the smoke clearly now)?

It's white smoke and is definetly burning oil. I have a rebuilt motor with weak 456whp and HKS head gaskets, milled heads, and L19 head studs built by GTM with 800 mi on it 500 of which was highway driving. Not to mention this was happening as soon as I drove it out of Forged Performance after the install. In addition this has been happenign the whole time I have owned the TN kit. It happens after comming off WOT. That's definetly indicitive of an oil seal issue.

do you have a catch can? My Z was smoking after a WOT run, we narrowed it down to the catch can hosing and figured they were collapsing under the vacuum when letting the engine slow the car down after a WOT run. We switched to racing hosing and problem solved. Just figure'd I'd mention incase you do have a catch can with shady hosing.

I had some smoke coming out next to my driver side headlight when getting into boost. It was because i had a leak where the wastegate was originally suppose to go. I have my wastegate relocated. I dont know if that might be it
