Default turbonetics vacum setup

hi guys
we have a 350z with turbonetics single turbo, and we have a problem in doing the vacum hose setup for this kit.

what we did is we connected a vacum hose from the bottom port of the wasgate to the compersser fitting, and the other line from the intake/M port to BOV. but the car is just showing me 5 psi !!! is that correct ?

allso that BOV has 2 ports ?? why ?

HELLP

The BOV has two ports because it can be used in different configurations. You need to have the boost signal line for the wastegate in the bottom port which is the port FURTHEST from the polished logo. The BOV signal needs to be in the top port which is CLOSEST to the logo on the top...

Its supposed to be making 8 PSI. Are your signal lines correct?

Sounds like the BOV isn't hooked up right.

Since we're on the subject, a buddy and myself just finished the install on my TN and because of the snow we haven't gotten her on the road yet. We have all the vaccum line screwy as well. Help me out here, I got the directions here how to connect lines but can someone explain the machanics of whats going on where and how between BOV, wastegate and compressor? It would be easier for me to understand rather than just following directions
Thanks in advance,
Sean

If u diligently follow the instructions u will do fine , But MIAPLAYA would be better at explaining things in detail

Run the lines neatly and keep them away from HEAT !!!! Once ur tuned, U may want to hold off till spring before u push it too hard !!!

OK lets see if I can make this clear...

The boost signal from the compressor outlet (fitting on the turbo) goes to the lower port of the wastegate. The lower port is the one furthest away from the Red Turbonetics logo that is on the polished diaphram housing (top). The purpose of this signal is to open the wastegate when the spring pressure is overcome by the pressurized air. For this turbo kit the spring in the wastegate is a 9 PSI spring. The compressor will produce 9 PSI of pressure at the outlet but after the pressure drop across the intercooler and charge piping the pressure at the intake manifold is actually 8-8.5 PSI.

The boost signal line from plenum (intake manifold) goes to the upper port on the BOV. That is the port the is closest to the red logo at the top. The purpose of this line is to hold the BOV closed under boost. When you close the throttle plate the immediate vaccum condition in the plenum caused by the closed throttle pulls the BOV open until the spring overcomes the vacuum and shuts the valve again.

Hope that was clear enough...

Vacuum is pretty forgiving -Its possible, but a new fresh hose will almost seal itself if it has a non visible pinhole in it. At this point u just have to start at one end, be it vac lines,Intake or discharge and rule things out.
Any system, weather it be vacuum, hydraulics, fuel, pressure, electrical etc is like a garden hose---If u turn it on and u know u have water and ur not getting anything at the other end, u have to start at the source and go to the end til u find the prob.
Was it a new kit ? If not, is there indication the BOV or WG was tampered with ? Do u have good Motor vacuum ? Chk and double chk all ur large silicon hose connections.

Agreed the leak could be anywhere. A buddy of mine had an issue with his Crawford V1 plenum leaking pretty bad. Are you using the stock plenum?

Glad to help out. If you haven't you might want to pick up a copy of the book "Maximum Boost" by Corkey Bell. Its an excellent resource for all things turbo related..

MIAPLAYA i chekd everything the vuc setup was correct but still NOOO BOOOST we allso do some thing.

we tryed to over boost the car, but its only showing 0.5 bar !! that means with overboosting its giving 7.4 psi only !!! what dos that mean ???

after that we did the vuc again like u said and it was showing 5 psi again !!

damn ?? what to do know after all this.

i chekd the plenum (upper, lower, mid, its not leaking. and just to make sure i changed all the plenum gasket. and still the same it is
