Default Why gauges on the pillar?

Why do folks put their gauges on the pillar when this look is so clean? Sorry guys that have this but I just don't get it... I see 'em like that all the time and I think it looks horrible.

That looks really good but maybe some people want to retain their factory features

I wanted to keep my factory features.. I love to see how much mpg i get after tuning... and a **** load of other features no other gauge can provide is on that factory leftmost gauge..

Well I certainly understand keeping the factory features. That makes sense...

I have 2 on my pillar, they are black faced and I like the way it looks. I'm still considering putting them in the middle but I haven't decided.

has anyone tried stacking their gauges ontop of the factory stock gauges instead of the pillars? Just a weird thing i just thought of... probably would look a little strange.

Im more conserned with efficency than good looks and its a nice site line on the pillar. Boost and FP are important. In the future I may put an oil temp and better water Temp in another location. Different strokes ---I dont bash anybodys preferences

There is a pod that replaces the top steering column cover for a gage set up

Yeah, I hear ya. I just personally don't care for it but I am not into the flare. I like everything neat and clean, more closer to stock than anything. As you say, different strokes...

I like the look of replacing the stock gauges, on the other hand as others have stated, then you lose the computer display, the amps and the oil pressure. By doing the pillar, you do not lose. The pods that go on the steering cover, cover the stock gauges to some extent. Putting them in the console door area, you lose that area for other things (screen). I just got an extra dash cover for the driver's side, I am investigating how it can be modified to hold at least one gauge (above the a/c vent area) using the stock gauge pod (if I can adapt to fit). Bottom line, we don't have a lot of options.

Does anyone have a steering column pod? Does it block the tach and speedo at all?

I can't believe you'd choose form over function especially since you have turbos. I'll take more gauges, not less gauges anyday. Where you going to put additional gauges when you need them? Oh, you'll probably remove the tach and speedo.

well actually.. the factory ones that he removed aren't really that important and it does look clean like that. But everyone has their own opinion and like different things.

Is this your car? Looks sharp. But why belittle others who choose something different. There is a way to toot your horn without being condescending.

It was a toss-up between a paisley print pattern on the pillars or Guages. I think paisley is do for a comeback.
