well i guess what I don't get is especially in the higher gears, it takes a good bit longer to go from 6600-7000 rpms, and how can someone driving the car not notice the flashing light? Also you can usually feel/hear the car is ready to shift, but I know with a helmet on and facing the sun with the windows down it can be hard sometimes

you can set the flashing light to flash at a lower rpm
I believe the light comes on about 500 rpms before whatever rpm you set it to

maybe I'm the only one who has reved to 7000 rpms only exactly when I intended to? Not to say I'd never slip up or be more focused on watching the road or something
But taking corners, you'd never be near the edge of the limiter cause you want to be able to floor it ASAP coming onto the straight without having to shift first

I've seen driving videos though where they're going crazy with the rev limiter. I have no idea if that's an ignition cut or fuel cut though...

If we're talking just one occurance where you bump the rev limiter vs going an extra 300 rpms, then yeah I'd say the limiter is probably the safer bet. I think what I was saying is that I'd rather go an extra 300 rpms than just keep holding my foot down while on the rev limiter bouncing off it multiple times in a row. Even in some video games doing that will hurt your engine

I understand that if I raise the limiter and most of the time I don't hit the limiter, and try to still shift at 6600(which is my case) and that one time they go past the 6600 and had the limiter raised in turn didn't hit the limiter and not causing a strain on the engine. But what about that one time I go past the 6600 and still rev up to hit the rev limiter that has been raised. Now you have the added stress of the already raised limiter and now the fuel cut.

I know this isn't good for a stock bottom(I found out the hard way too) but is it still bad for a built bottom end.

I actually agree completely with alberto, he's also been doing this longer than me. But on stock internals.

...would you guys agree with the fact that raising the rev limiter to 7K
still has the potential to damage the motor even if you dont have a FI setup?

I ran the 7100rpm NA with a Techno flash, never had issues NA, but the Q is, did it prematurely cause something to fail later with boost? We wont know, although I wouldnt be scared running this NA again....
