Default Question to East Coast FI people...

I am not looking to get this done to my car, the car is actually on it's way out, but I am rather curious about this.
At least 75% of all FI users are either running test pipes, or have a FI system that deletes the cats (like the ST's). So how the heck do you pass your inspections? Especially people in NY?
As I said, I am just curious, not looking to mod my Z, not changing plans again, so flamers, find another way to boost your post counts...
Anyone with input, thatnk you.

But what about people with kits that delete cats altogether, like APS ST for example?

I was chatting with my dad about FI solution in general, and he asked me how do al these people take the emission checks...
I had no clue what to tell him...

You just have to know someone and 50 - 100 dollars and you pass inspection.

Yeah, so my dad did have a point. Trust your elders, as they say.

So my guess, if there is a crackdown on service stations doing that, the TT owners can just temporarily swap cats on, the TN ST people can order the cat and install it for a few hours to pass the inspection, but the APS ST people are basically on a plane to Phuket, no?

Is that when they just plug something in, but do not put a sensor into the exhaust pipe?

I am an inspector. On 96+ cars as long as you dont have a check engine light it will pass emissions.

Curious what this has to do with FI...I mean, there are bazillions of Z that are NA and don't have cats installed.

Sorry, not trying to flame, just trying to understand the motive behind the question...

And do they temporarily put the cats back on before taking the cars to be inspected?
Correct me if I am wrong, but the only setup that would not permit any kind of catalytic converter would be the APS ST, yet there seems to be more and more of them as of lately. My interest was to inquire what is their inspection strategy.

I'm from MA, so I know my laws don't apply to you, but here's your state's OFFICIAL inspection/emissions test information:

will you pass emissions if you turn off the boost? What makes FI un-passable?

I dont think anyone is going to give you an exact strategy on how to inspect it since those methods are illegal. If you know someone and have $50 to $100 your car WILL pass inspection.

They don't check your CATS,,, they rely on the check engine light to tell them if the car has cats or not. No shop around here also uses sniffers.
