Default Decided to go Stillen

Well after 3 months of reading and trolling the Fi forums here I have decided to go with the Stillen SC kit. Granted it isnt the biggest baddest kit its what best suits my needs at the time. Kit should be here within the next week and will go on sometime after Christmas.

Mainly chose the Stillen kit because it was the only kit I found with the blower on top of the motor. This was the look I was going for as I want to cut the hood to allow for the clearance and add a new look that I havent seen on any other Z. Car will rarely if ever be taken down a track other then one Fridaynight a month in the spring/summer. Not looking for huge numbers, more show then go right now. Plus there arent any big hp cars around where I live to worry about

Want to end with this forum has been a ton of help while I was looking for info. Haven't had to ask very many questions at all. May of taken an hour while trying to search for something, but most questions are buried in a previous post elsewhere. Any other advice from guys with Superchargers or Stillen SC specifically dont hesitate to post.

Starting off with just the Stage 1. Have 2 Cisco certifications and a few other comp networking certs coming up soon, so trying not to blow all my money at once

And yea there is no way Im going with the Stillen hood, which is why I am going to try cutting an OEM hood I picked up for cheap. Add a little of the nostalgic muscle car look with the blower sticking out of the hood

Have you seen the newer hood made by stillen? imo, doesn't look bad at all.

Yea I have but Im not sure its what Im looking for, but it is a possibility. The whole reason for going SC over TT was to possibly have the blower exposed. I have a few ideas in my head and on paper of how it may look, but I can test andything until I get the kit on.

I have always been a fan of the blower being viewable. Had it on my '76 and '77 Vettes and it is on my dad's Road Runner. Having everything tucked away under the hood is nice also, but if I can pull the look off as I want I'll be estatic...and yes I said estatic

And as for the comment about the kit being a waste of money go rag on someone elses thread. Dont like my choice then why bother posting? If I wanted a high hp monster I wouldnt of chosen a Z as my starting point.

Doug chill out man, it was his choice nothing crazy, I dont like the stillen kit either. To each his own, and btw I hope your hood idea looks good, ONE QUESTION?? Have you spoken with stillen about having that sort of supercharger completely exposed at all times to the open air and elements??? Im just wondering how itll hold up thats all????????????????

According to Stillen it shouldn't effect the kit or performance. The only thing they mentioned is that it may weather the belts faster due to being exposed, which is an idea Im working on fixing. Depending on how things pan out I may end up with the new hood they designed for the Z. Looks a little better then the first one and may have to hold me over till I can come up with my own concept.

And yes I did ask about any advice from people with experience with their Stillen or SC set ups. If you feel its a waste of money Doug then explain a little more then just saying it is. Maybe you had one before but it was't enough HP, thus its a waste of money. But Im pretty sure I said I wasnt looking for tons of HP from this setup.

congrats on your choice.granted it dosent have the most power but its still a blast to drive.i still have not had one problem with the stage 4 with the exception of replacing the small belt a couple of times.27,000 miles and still going strong on the kit.

Yea at first I was concerned about the possible power. Then when I came to the decision that my Z isnt going to be about all out power I couldnt stop from going back to look at the Stillen setup. And alot of the questions I had were answered somewhere by you superchargedg, so thanks for being rather vocal about your experiences with your Stillen kit

Im itching to get this on so I can start working on more concrete hood ideas. By the time I get something that works and I like Im sure I will end up spending well over what Stillen wants for one of their hoods. But I'll have something totally unique Ideally the kit will be on beginning to mid January, just kind of depends on when I can free up time since I want to do this project with my dad.

And Im sure I'll be dropping you a few PMs asking about your experience with the install and some other small things superchargedg

i had kept my mouth shut till you brought me back into the conversation... i have opinions... i make my opinions public and i am not shy about it, but does that mean you really have to resort to name calling? don't you think thats a tad bit childish?

because i don't like products a, b and c that makes me a jackass? You are lucky i am not posting my opinion in this thread i am actually being quite reserved right now.
