I read in the newest issue of Nissan Sport mag that Squires Turbo Systems (STS, the guys who make the remote turbo kits) is getting ready to release a kit for the 350Z... Theres nothing about it on their website though. Anyone heard anything about this?

I talked to the company directly about 4-5 months ago and they apperantly are still working on it...I told them that I would be intrested if the performance level was comp. to a Turbonetics kit power level. The other question I had for them is the turbo lag from the pipeing being in the back along with the issue of the turbo getting wet, thus the turbo getting hot anyway, poss. breakage...They have this product on mustang/vettes and it works fine. The guy I talked to David..(I think) has a 350z, that is what the tune/ fitment was used on.......Don't know what to tell ya right now. I guess we shall see.......They said back then they were close, well still not done??? hummmmmm. don't look good.........

 

They purchased some parts from us for the kit..Rumor has it , that it will be released with the UTEC as engine management..

 

STS does have a 350Z rear mount kit / they are doing some street test this week / I know this because we talked with rick form STS. We are also going to be a dealer for their products & install faclity. They have a excellent product. you can call us if you have anymore questions 704-523-6700

 

Hmm, I hope they bring this product to market... I have heard nothing but good stuff about STS kits, despite my initial misgivings about the whole remote setup.

But more turbo kits equals more choices and that always a good thing. I wonder what the price point on this thing is going to be.

 

I remember how badly they got bashed a couple years ago on this forum for wanting to make the kit when they posted about it... Might not be the most ideal, but if it's the cheapest then that's another valid option for ppl.

 

I've been looking at this kit before I got the Z. Installation is very simple, especially when you need to go back to stock for CARB ***** or if you're selling it. The stage 1 kits non IC on other cars looks to be at the centrifigul SC level while the IC turbo seems to be pretty close to Turbonetics and APS.

 

Intresting , Please when they do come out with the kit post-up I'd like to see some more info and pics. And of course some #'s also... .....Stranger things can happen??!!!

 

I remember a mag testing a bunch of modified cars. They ran a GTO with this kit on it and complained heavily about the lag. If a 6.0L GTO turbo has lag......this certainly isn't the kit to go with on the Z.

plus yeah....you run over a small piece of rubber or something, that turbo is GONE.

 

I dont think that is the case..how many stock mufflers have people ruined as a result of running something over..

 

a muffler isn't as critical as a turbo, lol. A chunk of rubber takes out an oil line, and you've got yourself a fried turbo. Woo!

 

So how many Fuel lines have you seen ruptured from debris?just a comparative.

 

lol. I remember seeing an install story on the STS and they claimed that with the longer lines to the turbo it actually drops the temp 50 degrees or something, resulting in more power.

keeping it away from the engine must help with heatsoak as well. I never heard about lag problems ( on the C6 vetter kits that is). a friend had one on his GTO (he blew his engine up do to bad tuning) but before that it was a beast lol

 

Rear turbos do and will work. When people first started putting turbo chargers on engines people said it wouldnt work on a gas engine. You may have lag to 3500rpms but hell after first gear your not under 3500rpms. I dont see why people on this forum cry about lag so much. If you want big power your going to have lag, no way around it.

 

Won't most of the kinetic energy of the exhaust gasses be lost by the time they get to the turbo? Won't building up the pressure in the return pipe/intake manifold take forever? Either I am an idiot or you'll have to make a choice between a very small turbo or a very laggy turbo. I would not run this type of FI on anything, but an NSX...

Besides, the GTO, the car that I have almost switched to, experienced lag with a much larger higher compression motor...

 

There is... But it's more expensive.

 

Nitrous. Im going to use a large single turbo on my Z. A holset HX40. I will probably get full boost at 4200rpms or so. But thats fine because i can stay out of boost at 100mph for highway cruising.

 

I hope they go for CARB certs. I see no problems getting this kit to pass the cold start test unlike all the other turbo kits. The cats should heat up normally with the turbo behind them. This could be the first CARB legal turbo kit.

 

Well if that raises the price forget the stupid sticker. Frankly you don't even need it cause you can cut out your old stock box bottom and place it on top and it will look completely stock when he pops the hood.
