Hey man, I understand how you feel about wanting to install this kit on your own...

I think the majority of the tuners/installers on this website will tell you that JWT requires only authorized installs of his kit for a certain reason: The longevity of an engine is directly related to the quality of the installation. One way of attracting future customers is to show to them that there have been zero (or very few) engine failures. The only way to guarantee that this is by preventing "end users" from possibly installing incorrectly.

You must admit, that it is a good marketing strategy, "Out of the box reliabilty (by professional installation)."

I'm not knocking your abilities to install this product on your car. You might be a VERY capable mechanic, but I'm sure you understand that by making an exception to the "authorized installers only" rule sets a negative precedent. If exceptions were made, we'd start seeing "JWT TT kit blew my engine" threads... And you know how the majority of the naive forum users would react: "OMG, JWT is teh suxorz."

Anyways, this topic is like beating a dead horse (along with the "carb approval" topic)...

Good luck with your APS twins!

Hey John,

Happy New Year! How is your car coming along, were the turbos salvageable?

I apologize for that but sometimes I get hell bent on details.

Anyways, I agree with you that the JWT TT kit is an awesome kit. I think you made a great choice. In fact, if I was able to buy it and install it myself, I just might have went JWT TT instead of APS TT. You really should try getting Jim to sell the kit to the public.

Good luck with your project!
Yup…..if you’re a jackazz, you have not much of a choice, as you’ll stay a jackazz. “Behaving like one,” means that you do have a choice, as you do not have to continue acting as one.

At least that was what I meant. I try to stay away from drama, as best I can; however sometimes when it is too personal and directed solely at you, for the slightest of reasons, you have to cut it off at the knees.

No problem; we've all been guilty of same, one time or another. Apologies if I was being too hash.

I am partial towards the JWT twins; but you may be interested to note that I did consider the PE as well as the APS in the beginning. The key attraction to the JWT/s, for me at least was, and still is, the service.

Cheers
G

"Dude".......This is the freaking F/I Forum, with most of the threads being about twin turbos, so obviously, it can be done.

You can "tt" a stock block if you keep the boost at a reasonable level and have it professionally tuned.

Wow,

Interesting thread yet pretty off topic from the get go. As for the JWT, we are pretty versed in installing them so here is some info that might help.

Note:
Most stock motor set-ups are safe up to 8 PSI with the standard JWT kit using the BB530 turbos (If and ONLY if the car is tuned to pull timing or running race fuel of 100+octane) anything greater will not last long if you get some Sh$t fuel unfortunately.

Bigger Boost
Now, My personal car (Won 2nd in the Redline Time Attack this year in the Unlimited Class) runs 12 PSI (Custom VRT set-up with JWT 700s) on a stock motor yet ONLY RUNS 110 or above and C16. I like the Higher Compression pistons with the stock motor. But, put pump gas in it and BOOOM. She will blow sooner or later, then I will put one of our builds in it. BTW, around 500 WHP on stock internals at 12 PSI and raced hard and often.

If you want to start upping the boost from 12 PSI to 24 PSI, you need an array of parts and some serious $$$$ to play with.

Start With
Forged Internals
Rods
Pistons
Cams
Valve Springs
Racing Pipes
and more.

PM me if you need any additional help, and specifics, or hit my website.

Good-luck.

If it offends you when a nubie ask a question, ignore it. No need to put in your 75 iq points of response. You're not a bad ***, you only act as though you are because you had your *** beat so many times in school. This is your way of getting revenge. Sitting behind a computer and acting tough in your responses. Can you direct me to the sand box and jungle gym please?

I find it funny because when I first bought my Z I knew NOTHING. However, I am very experienced with forums in general, so all I did was search day in and day out. I got the info I needed. If a guy like ME who didn't even know what a CAI did when first joined can do it, I'm sure everyone else can.

Just my 2 cents.
