1. SEARCH is your friend. I'm sure that you're headed for a flame session by posting this, and I thought I'd be nice about it first...

2. Building is a smart idea. For your goals, a basic build (rods, pistons, ARP main studs, L19 head studs, and HKS head gaskets) would be on my short list.

3. JWT is a nice kit. Especially considering your power goals, it's more than capable.

4. If money is an issue, back out now. This only gets more expensive as time goes on. Consider yourself warned...

Good luck.

Depending on your time frames, I would not suggest buying the parts bit by bit, as this is a constantly changing industry, before you know it there will be; price drops, new cutting edge technology will surface.

A case in point, I bought an exhaust (& a bunch of mods) when it was first introduced into the market, and it cost me close $1,000 for this particular exhaust. And a year later, maybe even less, the price dropped from $1000 to $600, ya-da, ya-da

Save your money and study the industry and when the time presents itself, start the purchase when you have the finances and when you're ready to do the install.

Why dont you start with the complete JWT, and leave the boost at the preset level of roughly 6-8psi. It's a very safe kit out of the box...enjoy the turbo kit on the stock block, while saving up money for goodies.

The best is to have the internals upgraded while the motor is out of the car for the TT install. That is if you have the money. It's like buying a new car and paying in full. Least total out-of pocket spendings (no interest), but biggest hit to your budget. Otherwise you'll pay to pull and put back the motor to install the turbos, then pay this fee again when you take out the block for a rebuild.
Lucky for you, the better tuners (Sharif, for example, is one of the best Z tuners in the country) have already established the safe points for the stock engine and drivetrain. So if you stick to their recommendations, you will enjoy good power in FI'd stock block, while saving up for a built motor.
Honestly, just find a closest reputable Z shop, give them 10G, ask for a safe stock engine setup and leave it to them. You'll be fine for a good while. There is always a chance of a factory defect to present itself inder increased stress from the FI, but any aftermarket work is risky, so if you don't like the risk, buy a Z06 w/warranty... Hope this helps.
