my reason for wanting to use the TIMROD method is instead of tightening the belt so much on the normal setup, you wouldn't have to tighten it as much.

Tightening the belt up so much will wear out the belt faster and probably lose a little extra power because the crank pulley takes that much more force to turn. That and it isn't even tension across the whole thing. It's really tight around the crank pulley, but up top where you have the big long stretches that just go around the outside of the idler and SC pulleys instead of over and under for a better wrap and higher tension.

It's mainly those areas that need the tension. Adding huge amounts of tension to the crank pulley area at the bottom to get acceptible tension at the top is just going to wear out belts faster and lose hp

The TIMROD method wraps more belt around the crankshaft and even the power steering pulley so the you don't need the same tension on them as before, and then it wraps over and under the top idler pulley instead of only around the tops of them

if 407 was at redline, than he made 323.75 tq at redline which probably means his peak tq was somewhere around 325 at best at whatever rpm between 4500-redline

I know I had a belt slipping problem due to the amount of belt dust on the motor even when I wasn't boosting much. The tensioner was tightened ALL THE WAY. The adjusting bolt would not turn any more! I had no choice but to try something different. The alternate routing and the super grip pulley did the trick. I never seem to be able to accomplish anything I read about on the net as easily as the person writing about it. This project was no different. I had to blow an extra grand for tweeking, machining and modifiying, but in the end I have a very strong car.

I'm not good at reading the graphs. (hehe) I would be all set and done if I had your numbers Sentry. I hope I get this fuel thing figured out. Whats weird is my car feels strong as ever and I've even beet some good local competition but my I'm only getting 378whp. Doesn't feel any worse than when I was getting 402whp.

hey sentry, is this your setup with the pulleys? Does it work to prevent the slips? Also is it slipping bc u reached a max hp/tq range where it cant stop it from slipping or will everyone start slipping at 10psi no matter what hp range?

Yeah I have that extra pulley on my car and I think it helps a little, but it's not going to do much to absolutely solve slipping if the belt is too loose

My belt started slipping at 10 PSI because it was just too loose. I wasn't there when it was being dynoed otherwise I would have said to tighten the belt. That's why my whp is "only" 435 while my tq is 375 (420whp/372tq when engine was hot). Normally every vortech setup has about 80 more hp than it does tq.

Had it reached a full 12 psi on that day, I'd probably hit around 450whp on their dyno dynamics dyno which would be around 475whp on a dynojet.

I'm getting tuned again the end of this week with the addition of water injection, dual 2.5 exhaust, and the belt tightened to reach 12 psi. Then as soon as I can, I'll go to a dynojet to see what I get, then go run the 1/4 mile after I get a new helmet

with that extra pulley, did u have to drill a new hold to fit the pulley or did u use one of those predrilled holes? Also, what size of pulley is that and did u use the same 93 pulley or a different size?

used the same pulley.
it was one of the predrilled holes.
I don't know what size pulley it is. My installer picked it out and ordered it
