Azula how do you like the ST kit?? you can pm me if you dont want to flood the thread. Thanks

the st kit is great, i have no complaints. but before i put it on, i was advised that i would want more power....it has been about 4 months since i put the kit on and i'm hungry for more....lol. the power from stock is extremely noticeable and i am tuned very conservatively. you can't go wrong with the aps kit, just make sure ur solenoid is upgraded and you buy the st exhaust and you will not have any problems and trust me, you won't want to get out of your car. let me know if you need any more info and good luck with ur choice .

i can't justify spending 20k on a shortblock, i thought that since i had a kit already, the cost would be a lil more reasonable, but i have gotten cheaper quotes.....waaay cheaper...just gotta run it past the girlfriend...(yall know how that goes, lol).

20K will get you a lot more than just a short block, It all depends on what components you want, Sleeved or not, type of headwork, supporting engine mods, EMS, etc. There is a lot of stuff involved in a engine build besides just the shortblock

Azula i thought you meant an entire build including the engine and turbo.
I have added up what i will spend total and it should be right around 15k$, this is my engine with cams that i already have. I Still need an ems, limited slip. and of course a turbo. Doing all the costs in a spread sheet i can turbo my car myself for around 5500$ - thats including the ems and limited slip with a pretty big single turbo. That is using a turbo that is bigger than the aps st or turbonetics st. I basically have everything done to my engine except for sleeves.

WAIT A MINUTE.... So you are saying ( I hope i read this right ) You are going to:
1. Build your own custom single turbo kit ( with a big turbo )
2. Buy and install a limited slip diff.
3. Buy and Instal AND Tune a EMS ( probally hydra from your other post )

For all UNDER $5500 US DOLLARS?

What ever it is you are smoking, it most be some GOOD stuff

It depends on the build. A basic short block build shouldn't cost more than 10k plus... or minus. Its hard to say unless to start getting bids. I just want a nice 400/400. DD for now. I know I will want more. Later

^^^
If a basic short block build runs you $10k, you just got owned.

________________________________________________________

You could do the engine build + aps ST + ems + exhaust + CJ fuel system + gobs of other supporting mods for under $20k... If anyone paid more than that, then I'd say they got screwed IMO.

Exactly but it will only be a down payment. With the Z you'll have more hp for less than a 3rd of the price plus you've made it your own. I've received a lot quotes from several tuners including some on this forum and you can build, with UTEC ems, premium rods & pistons, cams, including labor for much less than $15K.

Oh yea its some good stuff. Ill be sure and post how i did it with prices and pictures when im done for all the naysayers
My engine build cost me more because I didnt have a core, my block was destroyed. I also had extensive work done on my heads due one being nearly destroyed.

ok if we break this down, you can see that a good short block will run me about 3-4k (for my goals)....installation will cost 1k...so I'm looking at around 5k for the complete build....will i damage the car's internals by not upgrading my fuel system at the same time? also, is the unichip capabale of sustaining a mid 400 short block build....(for the time being). i would like to safely do this in stages if possible in order to not drop a huge load of money at once. below is the link for GTM, they quoted prices in the thread for a shortblock...i'm guessing that all I need is a stage 0 or 1 for the power goals i'm going for, or am limited to....

how did I miss this thread? Just an update, my car will probably go in to GRD within the next few weeks or so for the APS extreme fuel system and UTEC. Probably in March, I'll go back for the EW when that comes out. I didn't think I would do all of this now, but may as well during downtime in winter.

My goal is to be at 500whp which we believe we can achieve. I didn't think my tq. would be so high from the first tune, so I've asked Tuan to tune the tq. around 500 lb/ft tq so I can drive this monstor daily, and so I dont have to upgrade my clutch again.

I dont know about prices because my car is sponsored and prices are different regionally. Will you damage your internals by not upgrading the fuel system? No, but you will be limited as I am due to the fuel system. And yes, unichip is capable for your "stage 1." But you will need a better EMS to manage stage 2. I know some ppl have had issue sustaining boost with the APS ST system, but I'm confident the new EW coming out will resolve the issue for those particular individuals.

Did you get quoted that for labor?? That's really cheap to drop your motor, reinstall the new one and your ST.

my car will crush your car when its done.

hahahhaaa damn bro i wish you lived closer so we could take our car to the track when they are all done. nothing like a little friendly competition. I think you and I will have the only built APS ST’s in the country.
