Default HKS head gasket?

I just purchased the hks head gasket and was wondering if the stock bore is 97mm? The box states it is for the VQ35 with a 97mm bore.

Stock bore is 95.5mm, and you are correct the HKS gaskets are 97mm. You should be fine.

Is there something special about these gaskets that make them "better" than Nissan gaskets?

They have stopper rings around the cylinder bores to help seal well. CJM has a nice write up on them vs Cometics on their site-also many pics.

Yes you definatly can. However, I personally dont know anyone who has blown the stock headgaskets before they blew the stock engine!

I agree it is not worth it, it is such a pain the **** to get the heads off to just put headgaskets on I would wait for the stock one to fail first, which will probably not happen, we have seen blown engines before blown headgaskets.
