I'm trying to find out how long it took them to install a vortech sc? And how much it cost to install? Please help. I got one quote for 15hrs and $1500 from a local shop.

That price is a bit high. I got my complete Vortech kit installed with gauges, an oil cooler, and tuned for $1,200. And as far as how long it took the shop. It all depends on how busy they are.

Thanks, I was wondering cause that seemed high to me. Cause the article I just read said it was a 6 hour job and their saying 15. Thats a bit of a difference.

$850.0 installation..That comes out to about 12 hrs labor..Definately more than 6 hours particularly if the shop has not done many..

Thats a lot better than $1500. Its forged performance in ga. Everbody seems to use them. So they should know what to do.

One thing you have to consider is the name of the shop and theri noteriety. Typically shops that charge higher prices are ones that are known for good work and what not. The shop that I now use is considered pricey by many but when you look at the work and all the headache it saves, it is actually QUITE a value.

I believe Vortech quotes 10-12 hours for the install. $1200 is good for the install. That is what I normally charge to do it.

I had my install done at Forged Performance in early November. Sharif & co did my install & tune over a weekend. I believe as THE TECH stated the job is rated at 10 hours for install.

I'm sure you can always find a shop to do something cheaper, but I made my decision based on Sharif's reputation and great customer service. He always picked up my calls or returned calls promptly. His entire staff was friendly and I felt taken care of there. After getting the install & tune I called Sharif with dumb questions and concerns and he still called back or emailed quickly. Honestly, that more than anything made me choose FP over other installers/tuners in my area.

Forged Performance(Sharif) probably has the best reputation on this site. IMO it would be worth it to pay the extra 300 bucks just for peace of mind. Also from my understanding, your quote pretty much includes all fees..like oil change, plugs, and whatever else. Other shops won't charge you all that till the end, when it is unsuspected and really throws a damper on things. Sharif doesn't play those kinds of games....GL

Thanks guys. We charge 15 hours labor for the job. Vortech claims 8-10hrs, which is not possible, to perfectly install the kit. Greddy claims 16hrs to install their kit....um..sure. I always take the manufacturers time claims with a big grain of salt.

The guys spend two solid days installing the Vortech, making sure everything is double checked, and perfect. We also perform before/after dyno testing.

Come visit our operation...I hope to meet you soon.

do it yourself, after watching it being done in 1 day by a fellow forum member, it looks very easy. But you have to have the right tools (which I dont have ) It took 14 hours.

I've decided togo with Sharif for the install. Now I just got to talk to the guy that has the kit. Thanks everybody. I can feel that everybody likes and trusts Sharif. I'll let everyone know if I can get the kit from him. What sucks is I think its still in his car.
