Default I want to know how much f1 5at are running

I'm strongly thinking about going fI and i was interested in knowing how much horsepower are you guys making at the wheels and what setup on the 5at will attain the most horsepower? I was trying to do a search to see if i could find some other 5at z's that were fI i found a few but not enough to really get a good idea of what kind of horsepower i should be expecting if i go this route. I have a couple more question and that is how much power can the 5at hold before it goes kaboom? Is it worth going tt with a 5at or just a waste of my time what do you guys think. Im not looking for automatic haterz to act foolish im asking for an answer from ppl on this board that are knowledgable about the 5at and f1. What is the highest horsepowered 5at z you have seen that doesnt have a th400 or th300 transmission, thanks. Ive searched by the way.

my 2003 g coupe a/t f1 TT runs 10psi all day long & I even run up to 15psi for some racing.
My tranny is doing fine so far(1year TT)...ps I did get my valve body upgraded, shifts like a mother now
hope this helps

Right now about 459whp on a dyno dynamics (no dynojet adjustment) at 12psi with a GReddy TT and built motor. This is somewhere in the 500whp range on a Dynojet. The valve body has been upgraded but we are having some issues with the trans at these power levels. My unprofessional opinion is that the 5AT trans could hold about 450whp with an upgraded valve body AND torque converter.

If you wat to do go all out, consider sending your trans to SGP Racing in TX for a full rebuild with upgraded clutches, bands, etc. This should hold much more power.

wow that sounds good im just probably looking for 400whp not to much more than that. What tt kit would be the easiest and most effiecient to hit the 400whp mark in the 5at and would i need to build my engine to run this type of power. I guess what i will do first is the valvebody upgrade and torque converter that should come first right. Have you brought your car to the track im interested in what your running in the 1/4 mile and i would like a description of how the power delivery feels in the 5at with all that power. Also i might consider a single turbo because i like the torque that the single turbo produces but wont i have a harder time getting to 400whp with a single turbo setup.

baileyrx how much power are you running bro you forgot to mention that and its good hearing that your car is reliable. Did you think it was worth your money to go FI on the 5at guys.

Any of the TT kits will get you 400whp. As for easiest and most efficient, I'll let the professional tuners chime in on that. Also, you don't have to build the engine to reach that mark but again you're increasing the risk of failure. I believe the consensus is that 400whp is near the limits.

No track time for me yet; maybe later this year. I still need to get some lighter wheels. The power delivery is quite impressive in 1st and 2nd and you'll need to be careful with traction loss. You could probably get more info from Sharif @ Forged; he is the only other person to drive my car and has experience with many 5ATs.

My wife did 13.6 @ 106 late last year with the Vortech. That was leaving off idle and a 2.3' 60. Car was completely stock with the "stock" Vortech pulley. Track closed before she got more practice. She was struggling to manually shift it efficiently also.

This year brings many changes.. High flow cats, Greddy Evo2 cat-back, Vortech 3.12 pulley, Sharif's valve body modification, and 3.5 gears. I think we will see a huge improvement.
