Like I said before....from what I know there are not too many people running around without built motors and the JWT kit. I know they are out there...but I think (from my exerience) they are not as many as with built motors.
I know a bunch who went that rout and then wanted more power so they built the motor. Again just my .02 and I hope that you guys get the information you are looking for.

I think that perception or reality is because most of the first kits were done by VRT and their customers went for built blocks and they had a high forum presence, once more shops started installing them and it became more available people started getting them on stock blocks, Japtrix has done about 4 all on stock blocks one with the 700BB turbos.

The last company I was affilaited with PM, They had done atleast 20 all on stock blocks... No Blown Motors...

Two of the last customers before PM closed doors, they moved over to VTR ... They have VTR race motors with the 700bb option. Both cars are in process of getting new EMS's with bumped up fuel systems...

My oppinion is what kept these kits relaible. Aside from being a good kit... 1. They are running moderate to low boost (6.8psi) 350-400whp. 2. JWT only has authorized dealers installing them.

In any form of FI, maintenance is key... I'm sure Noah can attest to that.

Is the JWT TT kit in stock form prone from blown motors with good maintainence.... Nope... But I do think JWT has marketed the kit in a way to minimize them.

I agree with all of the above...and I guess from what I could find out from a little more research there are a bunch of stock blocks with this kit. It is unfortunate that you do not hear more about the good things, you only hear when someone blows their motor. So, this is good for people putting this kit on a stock motor because you do not hear about blown motors all the time.
Go for it and have a good time boosting!!!!!!!!!

By the way I havea built motor and a JWT kit also done at VRT!

Bob, he meant VTR (Vinny Ten Racing), not VRT.

Yes, Navygolfs car was done at VRT when Mark B. and I were still there, and it is a sweet car. And yes, there is definately more JWT TT kits running around on stock motors other than built motors. IMO, it is for sure better to go FI with a built motor to avoid any further risk, but it is not necessary on a low boost aplication. The (out of the box, unmodified) JWT TT kit seems to be one of the best FI choices available.

Vinny Ten always worked under the name Performance Factory, in NYC.. He had to let that go post 9/11... Then worked and raced independently... Later in 05 was hired as a race car builder and crew chief for PM. They set a couple of world records. As of 12/06 they parted ways.

Now Vinny is formally marketing the VTR brand name in his new shop... It will be a little confusing at first... The logo will be alot different, that will help...

Back to the topic...

We all know FI shortens an engines lifespan... Especially a NA motor. For me I knew it would be a two step process... I Love my Z, Hopeing to keep it for a while, so for me at least for a long term solution. I have a motor on the side, for Vinny to build up...

For those that don't have the budget like my self to go all out spend 20k + at once... Do a basic kit, and in a year or two or three, then reevaluate, you may want to step up and invest in some internals... Or maybe not, you may sell her for a 996TT, GT-R, or a MPV...

I have been looking at the JWT more and more. I just ned to get some quotes on install and the kit. I just wish some more people running this kit with the stock block would chime in

I searched for the FI check in thread and I couldn't find it? I might be blind though

Hey Rob I checked out your cardomain page and you have a very very nice and clean looking car. Everything was done perfect. Nothing overboard or to short of agressive. very nice...

Thomas @ SGP quoted me $9,507 for JWT kit and installation.

Scott, I was referring to the list of cars that were mentioned.

As for more people chiming in. I think a lot of those stock motors with the JWT kit are not on the forums as much as we all are. Just a thought.

You know this is true...however I personally would wait until I could afford the whole thing, like I did. I just figured that the car is fun as is....but it needed more IMHO. I always think it is better to wait until you can afford everything you want to do and then do it once and right. In the long run it is a LOT cheaper. Just a thought...however I know plenty of people are not going to take the car to where I did....so the stock block is okay.

Performance Motorsports had a great package deal that IMO was unbeatable....but I guess they are gone now.

Either way my car is only going to Sharif at Forged Performance. I have a vacation coming up in Summer..so I'll more than likely pull the trigger at that time.

I've been decided on JWT for a while now. There really isn't any other kit out there I like....I think it suits my needs perfectly for a stock engine to get me through to the 09 redesign, at which point I'll have it taken off and sold. The best thing I like about the kit is that it leaves a lot of things stock while still getting a moderate power increase.

My APS ST(380whp/401lbft) was great but I had a lot of downtime bc the parts were never in stock and I wasn't near any shop that knew about the kit. I was forced to learn about the kit at that point, which turned out to be a great experience in the end. I thought that was actually more than enough power so I think the stock JWT settings will suit me just fine.

That super shine would cost about $400.00 for the 5 stage process; How many stages did they go through for your Z Rob?

There are some people that I know with the JWT TT, who don’t frequent any of the usual forums; because of the typical rowdy and abrasive bunch that seem to frequent the forums.

360 rwhp/401 lb torque is no slouch.

Are you saying that you’re replacing the APS ST, what a waste, as those proceeds could have financed part of your future rebuilding plans? What caused the down time, or the need for spare parts?

My 04 had the APS ST. I have an 06 now...I honestly have fun changing cars frequently and and doing new things to them. I feel fortunate that I can afford a hobby like this...

I was pretty much the one of the first APS ST's here so I had the check valve issue which took quite some time to diagnose bc no one in my area was familiar with the kit. Japtrix became known much later down the road and I never really got a chance to deal with them. GRD did the install in IL and I drove back down to FL. So it wasn't something where I could take it back and have them fix it. Everything has since been figured out..so there shouldnt be any issues anymore. Anyways it was fun I boosted 10k miles before selling it. It is still running perfect even till today. I keep in touch with the owner...

Vinny Ten and his crew ran Performance Motorsport.... Vinny has opened his own shop.... And will honor the old PM pricing... That he set at PM.

Just call em... They are doing two installs now...Web should be up soon...

Either way Sharif is obviously a good choice and a stand up guy. I think Sharif is in GA so not to far away...
