for $1000-1200 for utec and $1k for the install, you might as well go for the FconVpro and install/tune for $3k from AAM and Forged Performance. I think GTM's offer just expired

I have zero issues with my SS box. What exactly are your issues?

my emanage ultimate didn't start my car half the time, it killed 3 of my coilpacks - and I ALWAYS kept the ignition off or the car fully started to try to prevent that, but crap happens - probably from someone else driving it, who knows. I rarely ever let it sit in the ON position for more than 3 seconds.

It wasn't compatible with my hks ignition amplifier. Many times I'd get weird studdering when going WOT that seemed to be consistent. I wasn't impressed AT ALL with how their target A/F worked - you almost had no idea if it was working other than you selected "target A/F" as a pull down menu for selecting what 1 of the 2 inputs did.

Greddy still to this day hasn't released the full features that they promised since the beginning that the unit. Their support hasn't really been the greatest either. Their software tends to be buggy and some of the early emanage ultimates would actually short out because of a bad design with some of the internal wiring - that they've since fixed.

Overall, my car just didn't seem to feel very solid and natural with it. The UTEC is way better, but also harder to install because of all the extra stuff it has
I agree that the SS box, as simple as it is does seem to get the job done just fine for low to medium power levels.
...another option might be to get an ECU flash and something to tune fuel with like an SAFCII, but it won't hold a candle to the UTEC or obviously FconVpro

The OP may have gotten a bad SS box . But from what I hear about the E-manage , your better off getting a new SS box . Its alot more reliable and less trouble free .

speaking of install, uprev highly recommended that i get a compression test before the install to make sure my engine was "healthy" enough for F/I. its another $400 sigh. any have any input on this matter? sorry for the slight hijack, i thought this might be helpfull for the OP as well.

Ok. Utec may be out of the question due to the Install $$$$. I took my car to jotech and they said the box was bad, not programed for my car. And they werent able to get alot of power out of it. Not sure if i should call vortech to get a new box or maybe sgp can fix this one an tune it better.

As far as uprev cant really understand what they do to the ecu as the EMS. Can they get the ecu to read boost. Im still confused on this subject.

Did your kit come from a different car ? Used ?

If it was a bad unit and the kit is new . Vortech will take car of it Im sure .
I dont really get what Jotech is saying....it wasnt programed for your car ? They could have tuned it for your car . ....They couldnt make much HP with it ? Sounds like maybe they never seen it and didnt know how to tune it

It was a new kit, Yeah they said the settings where all wrong and it was like a blank ss box. Im starting to think thats the case that they never had tuned one before. They said they had yet they needed to still download the software.

I have an SS box, aux. fuel pump, and fuel regulator from my Vortech system that I'm not using if you want to try another SS box.

400$ for a compression test is outrageous. The tool to do it costs like 25$ at autozone and you can do it yourself in about 20-30 minutes.

You can almost bet when they tried to upload your maps from the SS box . They didnt know how to reset the settings and the aux fuel pump will not come on untill the settings are reset .
Tell Jotech to call SplitSecond and they will walk them through it
