I'm surprised the car will run fine without the AC part on it. You aren't throwing any codes?

you don't need the AC to run the car
people can completely remove the AC and run the car
it looks like just the face plate of the pulley came off

yap car ran fine w/o out, however..... turns out something else went wrong somewhere... took it to two local shops less then 5 mins away. neither will work on it cuz a) its foreign b) its supercharged

However both looked at it and heard it and believe it's something internal.... one even mentioned it sounded like rod went out ...... having it towed to GRD 2mrw to diagnose what happened..... i guess the track day took its toll?

a bend rod? keep us updated

i'm not at all suprised given your power levels, but it will be one of the first incidents of a bent rod on a vortech. If that is the case, at least the rod didn't snap and break a hole in the block and you're still able to at least drive the car - something most vortech owners who damaged their engine have been able to do

BTW what octane gas were you running at the track?
I'm paranoid to run anything less than around 96 octane (mix of 101 and 91)

it sucks that water injection was one of your next mods (if I recall)
maybe it could have helped out the engine during those 1/4 mile runs - if the engine does turn out to be damaged

you might have chipped a ringland on one or more of your pistons - this has happend to almost ALL people with engine damage who were running vortechs. A compression test should tell you

Very interesting problem you have. My Vortech made a clunking and clicking noise too. When I was going WOT on the freeway. And I thought my engine was going to blow up. Towed it to the shop (Z cargarage) and found out that, my cog belt was ripped to shreads and was causing the clunking noise. My noise came from the blower side. And it freaked the shiat out of me. Sounded like my engine was hitting metal to metal. My tuner was puzzled too on how the belt got ripped to shreads. Hope your problem is not a serious one.

Soo another update today while car was being picked up, so far it seems that I have spun a rod bearing.... any ideas on type of work involved with that? labor time? cost more or less?

Pretty much engine disassembly.

my guess is that means the bottom end has to be taken apart and put back together again, but I'm not an engine builder to know for sure

If you can afford it, have a rebuild with strong parts done. If not, that my guess would be 850 labor alone.

damn B, I'm sorry to hear about this..... let me know what happens... hopefully running the engine on no tune for as long as you did didn't take its toll

you might not actually have to have the engine removed. They might be able to get to it through the oil pan - but I dunno
