I know what he asked, I was just giving my opinion....I remember when I was looking for my first engine mods, I spoke with Stillen and out the door pricing for their street legal kit was like almost $10,000. Plus you have to put on that hood.... . I think for the same or even less sometimes a TT on a stock block is a way better way to go.

Again, this is just my opinion....and I think that a lot of people would love to have the Superchargers that are legal. Just my .02..........I like reading everyones thoughts on what is legal and what is not though!!! Kinda made me laugh.

$10k for the Stillen? I guess that's what you get when you don't research.

Why not just get the new Cosworth (high compression) long block assembly and stay N/A? Much better streetability. Plus you should pass SMOG checks as long as you tune it right. Your average SMOG check place won't be able to spot the Cosworth parts. He'll just think you have a really clean engine...

because N/A will only get you so much HP.. and HP is addictive.. once you have it.. you want more and more and more.. this is a problem alot of Single Turbo Owners are running into now.. and are finding themselves selling for twins

I was actually toying with an idea to go along with the cosworth package. Just with the low compression package. Combine that with the Stillen or Vortech s/c and throw in a dual stage of NOS for those pesky mustangs and camaros.

Yeah, if you want to kiss somebody's *** to pass smog.

You would fail the visual inspection, but that is part of the smog. That would be an automatic fail on both parts. You usually have to smog biannually.

Default Carb

I don't know about Cali but here in AZ if you fail the visual (non-Carb parts or missing cats) it goes in the computer. Now you have a real problem. You can either remove the offending part/s or try to register the vehicle in other county or state. If they catch you doing it (they know it happens) they will be very unhappy.
If you sell the offending vehicle in state and fail to disclose that it is only usable for off road you are liable. Not a small problem if it’s a daily driver.

not everyone needs/wants 600+whp. And I totally think the stock engine has its limits. The only advantage the TT has over anything else on a stock block is how early the power comes on and overall area under the curve. You might be able to milk the stock block for more area under the curve with a TT, but probably at the expense of the life of the block.

I completely believe in doing something right the first time, but I don't think that means "go big or go home" I think it should be worded more like "meet your end goals as closely as you can for the budget you have"

Even though I think most of the TT kits are higher quality kits than the cheaper ST kits, the ST kits and install can be had for 2/3 the price and offer something like 90% of the performance that a TT will give you on a stock block

personally, if I lived in CA and just HAD to have a turbo - I'd buy a factory turbo car. I don't really see the big hoopla over a turbo or any FI though - if the Z came with an LS7 I wouldn't be sad that it wasn't turboed
