I can't remember because I never knew!

I knew it cut fuel, but I didn't know how. Now I understand how you are doing it, why it works. I also understand why some tuners might not "use" it.
Thanks Sharif, for sharing your knowledge. The info that HKS has on the website is limited, to say the least.

Functionally, they are very similar. They are two of the best boost controllers on the market, IMHO. The HKS is stylish looking unit, and uses a stepper motor vs. a dual solenoid. It's spliting hairs, but my experience with the HKS has been a little bit better, in terms of controlling and holding stable boost. But the Blitz is pretty darn good as well.

The new HKS has a few new features, such as speed and RPM adjustments, TPS offset, and a bunch of other ways to setup the boost.

sharif,

how does the UTEC controlled BCS compare to this new HKS EVC? have you played with the UTEC boost control on version 2.8 yet?

The two cars we tuned with the UTEC BCS might not be the best examples. Both showed fairly good boost stability, but not quite as good as the HKS. I need to do a few more...maybe the issues were unique to those vehicles, so its too early to tell. Also, the BCS was only about to increase boost about 90% higher than spring pressure. We can usually go higher than that with the HKS and Blitz BCS's.

you can defiantely go higher than that. I am running mine at about 80% over wastegate pressure using only a value of "50" out of "500" for closed loop operation.

I am new to electronic boost controllers and have never played with an HKS EVC, but have always heard great things. I assume that there must be more tunability with the HKS, though. maybe through either speed or gear based boost control......

Thats awesome. I was also using it in closed loop mode also. A lot of times, boost issues are more related to the vehicle/exhaust, and we get so many cars in here for tuning, that we didnt build....so take my comments with a grain of salt.

We need to do a few more and see if there is a trend of some king.

Is your boost pressure rock steady to redline, or does it dip down?

it seems that UTEC only makes adjustments to the BCS (in closed loop) if the boost is to fall more than 0.3 psi from the target.

........and it seems to be keep the boost within 0.3 psi of the peak boost.

I haven't played with the "wastegate closed below" and "boost gain" features much, so I don't know how those affect it. also, I am only running about 9 psi, too.

Talk about thrust!!!!

Sorry about going OT. :-(
