Shipping a motor?
Hey, sorry if this in the wrong section. I have a buyer for my stock motor but shipping has been a problem. Im in Canada and the buyer is in Texas UPS wants $1000+. I have found a trucking company that will put it one of their trucks for a lot less but they have MIA. Any ideas thanks??
Man that's a lot. It's been a long time since I bought anything that big but a couple years ago I had a full Type-R front clip shipped to me on a pallet for $3200 from Cali. (price of clip including shipping) There's gotta be a better deal out there. Call your local salvage and see how they ship. Might be a long shot but worth a try.

You need to have a business to ship with bax. No private shipping.

We usually ship on the East coast with RL Carriers. They will not insure the motor for what it is worth but we haven't had any problems yet *crosses fingers*. We have also used Bax Global and it costs around $3-400. I would recommend going to a local shop and paying them something to help ship it. Make sure you put it on a pallet and build some type of crate for it. The last one we shipped we used 4x4 and 2x4 wood supports. The last one received from a customer was on a tire with a ratchet strap holding it to the pallet.
ya...$1100 is way too much
1- this is back in Jan 2005... more than 2 years ago, maybe there's a huge price change?
2- it was shipped by a shop... may be they has account with the shipping carrier which included deep discount?
3- Canada is next door but who knows, they might considered that's an international rate?
anyway, good luck with your finds if you haven't done so.
