Default First test with the Vortech cog system

We did some first runs on a dyno today to test to see if I could get to redline with out breaking a cog belt . First off , when I got to the shop I loaded a new map into the SS box to pull much more timing out after 14psi and to add some fuel . I didnt quite add enough fuel but Im sure glad I pulled the timing .

First pull was just to 5500rpm . The A/F was off a little but we didnt think much about it because I had gone back to the 3.3 rear end so the tune wouldnt be the same . I took it to 6000rpm the next run and holy cow . The boost had gone to over 16psi , I believe he said . A/F wasnt over 12 to1 so I decided to try again [ w/m spray helps] . I went 6690rpm and made 21.7psi . I didnt want to go any further once I saw the boost level this time . The SS box only goes to 16psi , so it held the setting for 16psi and stayed there . I pulled enough timing so I was at around 13 degree's btdc . Actual whp was down from last dyno at 13 to 14 psi because of all the timing being pulled .

Im going to see if I can get a smaller [30 tooth ] jackshaft cog pulley [ blower side ] or a bigger 34 tooth pulley for the other side of the jackshaft . I need to find a way to reduce boost till I decide on a new EMU .

I sure do like having the 3.3 rear again . I havent got into it to find out where its going to hook up at [ what gear and throttle ] but just the shifting with the SGP VB isnt as harsh and makes it nicer to drive .

So I got even more money to spend to get it squared away ....lol
It never ends !!!!!!!!!!

Wow Boog making some progress huh? Good stuff. Props to you for sticking with the Vortech setup and making things happen for the supercharged world of 350Zs. Looking forward to your next update for us and get some pictures up ASAP. Also for EMS since you like to go the path less traveled maybe a Haltech e11v2? its end user tunable and Danzio Performance out here in SoCal has gotten it to control the cam timing as well. He reported gains of 20+ WHP across the band just by messing with the cam timing. it would be REALLY interesting to say the least.

Here are some quick pics . Like I said we didnt make as much power as I did at 13 to 14psi because of the huge amount of timing being pulled . It got up to 383whp I think ,389whp maybe . I will have to look . We just printed out the numbers and not a dyno chart . It was at 250 kpa which is 21.7psi @6690rpm's .

A new EMS is on the horizon , but Im leaning towards the Utec because the Hydra isnt controling the AT5 .

Oh...no way I would try it with a stock block .

Im using the 32 tooth on both sides of the jackshaft . Which is real close to having the 3.12 serp pulley . If my old set up [ 34 tooth cog and 3.12 serp ] would have not slipped . It would have made more boost than this set up . So the belt was actually slippinjg much sooner than I thought it was .

Is that rod on the jackshaft there to help prevent the premature wear on the jackshaft?

Actually its not. MSRP is $1860 USD but its basically everything you need.
http://www.haltech.com/e11v2.htm

http://www.haltech.com/ecu_comp.htm

Then you add this for $67 to make adjustments to fuel and timing without having to hook up a laptop. Like for weather changes: http://www.haltech.com/trim.htm

Just something to think about. Its on par with the Fcon for a lot cheaper as you don't have to buy tons of sensors...

That could be a great option since they are quite a bit more people who can tune Haltech over HKS.

Exactly. Plus the tuning software is included for those self tuners out there. It has the same map resolution 32x32 as the Fcon and all the same features for less price. I talked to the Haltech reps at SEMA last year and they mentioned they were finishing up the Z33 harness. Should be done by now so it would even be plug and play from a harness stand point.

looks good booger! We'll all be curious to see what the final numbers end up at.
This kinda makes me more inclined to stick with the normal blower since I'd like to be able to rev to around 7000-7500 rpms with a built block - or at least have the headroom to do so. The T-trim sounds like it'd make 30 psi at 7500 rpms which is uh well a lot

The Haltech sounds like a great product, but seems like the first versions of these sorta things always have a million bugs

the Fcon has been around and been worked out for awhile now

I'd agree with that except Haltech only makes ecu's and has been doing it a long time.

does the Haltech work off of MAF or MAP? I can't see booger's situation working with MAF very easily with 21+psi
