UTEC boost controller
I have also found that the "boost gain" features doesn't seem to do anything? also, the "wastegate closed before" feature doesn't seem too effective, either. I have mine set to keep the wastegate closed below 7 psi. I know my wastegates are opening up because I have open dumps, and you can hear them!!!
I don;t see how the "wastegate closed before" can possibly work. the utec would have to know if you have an internal or external wastegate. the BCS is hooked up differently to each wastegate type. on an external setup, the BCS is regualting the boost that is going to the "top" wastegate port, and the "side" port gets a direct (unobstructed) boost signal from the intake manifold so, to keep the wastegate shut, the BCS would have to open up the solenoid and hold it open (so the WG would have equal pressure on both sides of the diaphram) until the preset level. Conversely, for an internal wastegate setup, the BCS is limiting how boost boost goes to the actuator. To keep the actuator from seeing boost, the BCS, would have to keep the solenoid in the closed position. So, how can this feature possibly work for both configurations? It can't. the UTEC would need another parameter for the user to define which wastegate setup they are using.

from what I know about the EVC 6, it is the best boost controller on the market.
as far as the TXS BCS/UTEC combo goes, it is the best deal in boost controllers out there. It seems to work best on dual port wastegates , rather than actuated internal gates. lots of control options, open or closed loop boost control, no extra boxes or control units to mount....11X35 tuning resolution.
